Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

You're literally preaching you bonehead.

Your message is not the same as everyone here.

Voting works. The problem is people like you.

If not voting was a candidate it'd win every election in a landslide. Dopes like you create an ouroboros of self confirmation, a self fulfilling prophecy. Voting doesn't work, so why vote and now that people don't vote, voting doesn't work. So why vote?

It's a crap message stemming from a misunderstanding of the problem of our system. People have to buy into it. It's "cool" not to buy into it.

"If NoT VoTiNg WaS.." Bitch I voted. Every fucken time, and these monsters continued to tear the world apart, destroy anything I ever built, and say fuck you I got mine. I HAVE BEEN VOTING THIS ENTIRE TIME AND SHIT IS STILL BEINF CONSOLIDATED AT LIGHT SPEED. TRUMP STILL HAPPENED. THE NEXT TIME SOMEONE SAYS JUST VOTE HARDER IM GONNA THROW UP. Voting is the peaceful alternative, but ask the fucking miners at Blair Mountain how well voting worked for them compares to praxis. You sound ignorant as fuck. Every right we ever had came from the people getting fed up their blood was being spilled, their dead filling the cemeteries for the pockets of oligarchs. Fuck off with this "people like you" bullshit. I've been here and its not FUCKING working.

Your first message was accusing me of preaching and now you type like you're raging and being a little asshole.

You're stupid, your opinion is dumb and ill informed. Bye

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Go read your first message to me, sweetheart. You grandstanded saying I wanted Trump to win. Dont act like I responded to your posted comment. It was the other way around.

[–] deft@lemmy.wtf 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Because in reality that is what people like you are pushing even if you don't realize it.

Who else is in the ivory tower besides Trump? Biden? Obama? Clinton? Kamala? Bernie? Who the fuck are you talking about? It's nonsense, when reality collides with your ideals you realize how fuckin stupid it is. You literally accused all of those people of being in an ivory tower and acting as raiders. Those are your words.

What the fuck are you talking about? It doesnt matter whose in the high castle what matters is we storm the parapets. Jesus fucking Christ you are dense. It makes no difference who is indifferent to the pleas of the common folk atop such a lofty position, it only.matters that they are so and we are paying the price. Make it Bernie, Trump, or fucking Wiz Khalifa, it doesn't matter. What matters is you are still sitting here talking about voting when the oligarchs have run off with our electoral system ages ago through legalized bribes.

Voting works. That's why I'm talking about voting. Storming the parapets is what a moron thinks the solution is.

It is the equivalent of punching someone over understanding the how and why of a situation. It is like those people who blame societies woes on folk who only just developed the right to vote, own property, etc. a few generations ago. It's I'll informed.

Voting works. Everything around this entire socio-political atmosphere or it's the simple fact -- they do not want people voting.

They attack polling places, redistricting, stacking courts, storming a capitol building, calling state representatives to find votes, run around online pushing narratives about Jill Stein and the green party and pulling on heart strings telling people about the recent atrocities and how Ron Paul or some other never-gonna-win-in-this-election candidate is the one to vote for. It's why they don't want women, or brown/black people to vote. It's why they try to make immigrants and queers not-full-people.

Stories of illegal voting, manipulations, attacking the very foundation of a government, our government. For the last, literally ever.

Again, if No Vote was a candidate it would win every election, look at the amount of force applied to make people not vote. AND STILL it's hanging on by a thread and they haven't seem to kill it yet.

Voting is strong and voting is the solution. Any other direction away from that you're playing into their hand. And never once has storming the parapets ever launched decent people in power. Voting gave us Civil Rights, the New Deal, protected our water and nature from destruction, granted more people a form of medical assistance, gave us the footwork and methodology of a more cohesive one world economy which has granted humanity the ability to literally start having such a level of control over our planet we have the power to harm it and voting will likely be the only path to fixing that too.

You're a fool if you think attacking the monopolizer on violence is the solution especially when that entity is the American government who firebombs their own citizens but couldn't storm a capitol to stop a vote.

Look at all these dumb fools according to you:
https://appalachianmemories.org/2025/09/13/the-battle-of-blair-mountain-and-appalachiasfight-for-workers-rights/

Without "fools" storming the parapets you wouldn't have your fucken laurels that you lazily disregard. Honestly shut up. What you're saying is offensive to all those who gave their lives fighting corporate oppression.

The immediate results dealt a severe blow to union efforts in southern West Virginia. The United Mine Workers of America lost influence in the coalfields, and it required more than a decade for union strength to return during the New Deal era.

So it didn't work until we voted in the guy who would establish the New Deal, as I said.

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 3 points 6 days ago

Entire towns fell under the control of mining companies, including rent, goods, and medical care. Families lived in these isolated communities with very little freedom to challenge corporate authority. Efforts to form unions faced eviction, blacklisting, and violence. The United Mine Workers of America worked tirelessly to organize miners across the region, while coal operators employed armed guards and influenced law enforcement to suppress union activity.
