Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Just another poll proving that 47% of Americans are fucking morons.
The really frustrating thing is nobody seems to want to do anything about it.
Like so many things in America, education is very unequal. We have world class schools, and we have very poor and inadequate schools. The people who live in the areas with the very good schools think the people who live in the areas with the very poor schools should pull themselves up by their bootstraps and fix their own damn schools, and if they don't, well, that's a them problem not a me problem. Unfortunately, it actually is a you problem, because, turns out, all of us are likely to be negatively affected if large numbers of Americans are fucking morons.
Dude, I have a small business to run, it's my first season, and I'm swamped. And I had to quit my decent job and start this company because I was so burned out working with trumpers. Most of us are just trying to get by right now. Now that I finally actually have the freedom to participate in resistance, I can't afford to miss a days work anyway because my budget for necessities is so damn tight. Like don't have health insurance running a landscaping business tight. So it's kinda frustrating to hear people calling for others to go first. I don't have it in me, as badly as I would like to, by design of our culture. If you do, and can do the initial heavy lift of organizing and planning, I'll be your footman 100%. But if you aren't out there organizing and planning, don't pass that blame on to others who's situation might not be compatible with resistance at the moment.
That's not necessarily what I'm calling for. I want us all to go together. But we can't all go for a solution until we all agree on the problem.
Half the country wants this, and some of those are disappointed in trump, but not for what you would think. They're disappointed he didn't actually build the wall, they're disappointed he didn't nuke iran yet, they're disappointed some of the people picked up by ice were able to sue and get released.
This is a democracy and the majority wants fascism, there's nothing to fight unless you want to fight the average american who is disappointed with trump for the first time ever because of gas prices.
I think this is the important takeaway here. You may think "obviously, the majority of people want the same things I want", but you'd be wrong. At this moment in time, fascism is in fact popular in the US. Personally, I'm incredibly disappointed in the American public, but I have to accept that this is the reality.
I am not white, so I have to come to the conclusion that I am not actually welcome here (and more importantly, may not be safe here). But given this state of affairs, I think for all of us the question to ask right now is "what's next", for me, my family and for my community? I have a few friends who have moved to another country. That's a legit option, but it sucks leaving friends and family behind, it sucks to start fresh somewhere new. Without leaving, what other options do we have? Succession? Civil war? Passing legislation that erodes federal powers completely? Truthfully, I don't know. I do know that civil war isn't pretty.
