Is the question why is it moving engine? Where's the question why is unreal engine 6 coming out?

Yeah, I am still waiting for unreal 5 to not be a hot physics mess. Guess they are giving up and delivering another half baked engine instead.

More or less, yes. I think their thought is that UE5 already has a dogshit reputation, so they're bringing RL to UE6 which has a pretty big following and rich e sport community, so they can publicly showcase that the engine can easily handle fast, precise physics in an online game, without the need for a beefy CPU since UE3 has a pretty big thread bottleneck. Additional benefits are better utilization of GPUs and probably better incorporation of creators' content, even on console. And if it works as well as it theoretically should, it's proof of concept marketing for devs to hop onboard with using UE6 to make their games. It's a commercial that itself should be profitable.

But idk, we'll see. Maybe it'll be more dogshit.

If its built on UE5 that is likely to be dogshit. The issues seem to be exactly that the physics are jank in UE5 as well as other issues with consistent performance. If this is just them fixing those issues and renaming, sure that works. But if they could do that why did they not fix it when UE5 was getting dragged though the mud?

I am thinking it will work on RL just fine (likely with a lot of backend work) but 6 like 5 will not be stable outside the showpieces.

Could be. Whatever the case, I'm sure it will be cleaner than UE3. This game is on fucking life support with the wild dependencies to keep it relevant. The first month might be rough, but I think it'll end up being a net improvement.
