United Kingdom
General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Aye, sure. If we just ignore their coverage of The Troubles, Scottish Independence, Israel and Palestine, the monarchy, and Nigel Farage's party of the day, among a myriad of other topics.

No, we don't need to ignore those problematic aspects, because it's still a damn sight better than anything else going. Cuts to the BBC will not improve any other outlets, it'll just make it easier for GB News and the rest to expand their influence.
Than anything else going?

I don't know all of those but I do know that Novara media and the canary are absolute dogshit. Having less right wing bias by having an extremely left-wing editorial bias and zero objective reporting is not a good substitute.
Jesus H Christ, you guys are going to hand the country over to fascists while apologizing for it taking so long.
Either way, fuck the BBC for their coverage on Palestine. Can't wait for the corporation to crash entirely
Have you seen what happens in country where there is no channels with enforced impartiality channels?
You get the US media picture. It’s clear that the BBC has problems. But you can’t remove those problems and then have no problems. Instead you get a different set of problems.
