Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

That's actually all... I'll leave it up to you to speculate on the cure...

When you learn Jeff bezo's net worth increases several thousand dollars every minute and it happens by exploiting people around the globe, even forcing his own workers to hold their piss for hours so they can meet insane quotas, you think to yourself "what an awesome genius"? Is that possible? You really somehow have made it far enough in life to post on this platform without seeing how absurd this is?

Even if we take the deeply sick and inhuman idea of money equating success, they already succeeded hard at 2-3 million dollars. Having a billion dollars is like winning a sports game 1000-1 and still being sad that you didn't win by enough. These people could've easily retired at 5 million but they didn't want that. They need more and more and more. They happily spend millions of dollars on buying politicians so they can get away with paying sub-living wages to their slaves and so they can pay very little in taxes. They display deeply uncharitable behaviors at best and deeply disturbing tendencies often (creating an island used for raping children).

I really wonder how you could possibly dismiss or ignore all of this. Explain yourself. And you owe it to the community if you're going to come on here defending the class of people who have consistently ruined human lives throughout history. A billionaire is just a king who drinks from a golden chalice while their tax payers die in the streets. You are saying fuck those dead idiots, the king is great. What the fuck is that? Why would you do it? What could you possibly get out of this?

People become billionaires because they provide billions in value to the society.

People become billionaires because they own capital which extracts massive amounts of value from production processes by paying workers less than the value their labour produces.

Lol that's your response? Pretty safe to say you're a Nazi after that. Thanks for letting me know!!

You just not only said "life is fair" but that you don't provide much value to society.
