Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

maaaaan. I not read the article but I am here to bemoan the demise of public firework displays (in London). When I was young local mid sized parks would have massive displays (and epic bonfires) for free. Now each borough is funnelled into a paid display in a maybe one large park. It's awful and sad and there's not even the lord mayors fireworks event anymore.

I've worked Ally Pally and Blackheath firework displays.

Whilst I agree with what you're saying as well as most of the people who came to Blackheath last year (it was the first one in a few years), there's always the option to stand just outside the fence and watch them for free.
