There is little to no reason to have android at this point, and this change will be limited to the US market anyway since it violates multiple EU court orders and will not stay launched in that market if they're even dumb enough to try it.

Stop giving google literal free money. Stop giving pedophiles total access to the entirety of your mobile device. Buy an unlocked device from your vendor of choice (Xiaomi generally has models for every single region), slap grapheneOS on it, congrats. You win. for at most a couple hundred bucks unless you're dumb enough to live a life that needs a flagship.

If you live in a democracy try raising your concern with your government. Most countries, even 'uncivilized' ones have laws against companies destroying something you've paid for without your permission.

Can you explain what you mean by this? The GrapheneOS devices list shows only certain Pixel, Nexus, and Samsung phones, and the Ubuntu Touch devices page lists only 43 devices that support the two most-recent software releases.

I used a generous definition of "supported" to include old firmware that GrapheneOS doesn't support any longer on their latest releases but a release did exist at one point. It's further down the FAQ.

Basically, I gave the benefit of the doubt and still the statement is still demonstrably false because the largest set of phones "supported" is still a tiny subsection of all phones in the market.

I get your sentiment but I think you meant LineageOS and not Graphene. I'm running Graphene now but there is only a small handful of supported devices due to its strict security hardware requirements that most phones don't meet.

The next best alternative (and technically the big dog in the room) is LineageOS. Preferably with no google-play-services.
