Wasn’t the UK’s BATES system supposed to do that back in the 90s?
There were so many changes to it though before it even came into service.
I don’t think it ever worked like it should have done and then was replaced by something else smaller and more modern as well as a lot cheaper.
The 40mb disk drive unit was a 2 man lift and had to be shut down before moving the vehicle it was in. That was really handy for artillery that was supposedly mobile.
I did not know that lol, I believe the KRIPS system is based on or heavily inspired by the digital fire control system developed originally for the Paladin.
Given the Ukrainian stuff actually has a job to do beyond making arms industry stocks go up, I expect it's a bit better.
It’s be much better, for a start it’s 40 odd years more advanced.
Our system was constantly having its requirements changed. One of those things that just made money for the company but of little use. Hence the 2 man lift disk drive that you couldn’t use if vehicle moving. It was always hobbled and never used to full potential. Nothing new there then.
