I am trying to install Lineage OS on Chromecast. The documentation talks something about route access (I ignored it, assuming I don't have to route my device)

** My question **

I enabled USB debugging, tried:

adb devices

my PC wouldn't recognise the Chromecast. I did some research online, and discovered that we need to have WiFi debugging enabled to use adb after the android 14 update, is it true/compulsory to enable the same? If yes, is there a docs or guide I can follow?

My setup: PC: Linux Mint 22.3 Zena

Chromecast: Chromecast with Google TV

Just when I am trying to move away from big tech. This happens

I removed windows from my PC, thought installing lineage OS on Chromecast will give me confidence to mess up with my phone.

Maybe I will start by buying one more Chromecast from marketplace/eBay mess that up and then work on my phone.

Don't. Chances of finding a pre 2021/23 model are slim, and if you happen to connect it to the net carelessly, it will auto bork itself.

Thanks, looking at the prices of raspberry pi. Looks like I have to start saving just to liberate from the big tech
