Innit mate! If you enjoyed Utopia watch The Hollowmen you wont regret a bit

The salesman was super cool to be honest. It was between this and instax hybrid model (which costs more) but he understood my needs and suggested this.

What got me more exciting is that I only have 36 photos per film roll so have to be very conscious of what I choose to capture

Damn I was born in 1997. I am so jealous of you guys (in a good way), my next post will probably be about developing a black and white. I am moving to India for a few days, don't know if I will be able to get the supplies but hell yeah I will try once for sure

Woow, that's interesting to hear. What's the tech behind Leica analogue and why do they cost a fortune?

[–] vaderaj@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Yes it is a modern analogue camera. It has an in built LED screen and auto reel roll function as well

My dad gave me his DSLR but I would never look at the photos I took or cared for it.

Now that the number of photos I can take are limited I can't wait to develop those photos and actually feel it.

Life's fucked, no doubts. But that doesn't mean you make comments that could potentially harm vulnerable people

Because the US/west gets to decide who the terrorist is? I mean the US can invade a country to protect against communism, but Palestinians protecting themselves* (yes, I agree the asterisk is doing some heavy lifting) are terrorists. So on and so forth.

As someone from East, being politically active and living as an expat in a western country, I learnt this fact/double standards the hard way?

The same extension of contract thung happened with me as well. In the team standup my manager announced my contract will get renewed but that day evening I was welcomed with the news of two days notice period. It's a very fresh wound at the moment so need to let it heal

[–] vaderaj@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Perfect reply doesn't exis........

Hi Lemmy,

As the title suggested, I was kinda given soft yes and everything that my contract would get extended in the last moment I was welcomed to the news of two weeks notice. Reasoning being "unable to meet stakeholder expectations" (I pushed back few requests from a very pushy stakeholder). As an expat(international student), who just made it, I lost it all. In a moment

Here I am! I am glad I was diagnosed as an adult, but I really wish I was diagnosed as a kid (who had multiple visits to the principals office) may be I would have learnt being diplomatic more gracefully. I am just so done with my condition playing around with my life.

Parallely all my friends are empathising with me but few are insistant that I continue as an expat for more money.

I really want some wisdom from people who "know me" and understand me

Thanks!

Context: I am from India, currently working in Australia.

Hi Lemmy,

I am trying to install Lineage OS on Chromecast. The documentation talks something about route access (I ignored it, assuming I don't have to route my device)

** My question **

I enabled USB debugging, tried:

adb devices

my PC wouldn't recognise the Chromecast. I did some research online, and discovered that we need to have WiFi debugging enabled to use adb after the android 14 update, is it true/compulsory to enable the same? If yes, is there a docs or guide I can follow?

My setup: PC: Linux Mint 22.3 Zena

Chromecast: Chromecast with Google TV

Thanks in advance

PS: I am not a developer, I know some coding and work in data science. Please correct me if I said something wrong.

I have some data science background, and I kinda understand how LLM parameter tuning works and how model generates text.

Simplifying and phrasing my understanding, an LLM works like - Given a prompt: Write a program to check if input is an odd number (converts the prompt to embedding), then the LLM plays a dice game/probability game of: given prompt, then generate a set of new tokens.

Now my question is, how are the current LLM's are able to parse through a bunch of search results and play the above dice game? Like at times it reads through say 10 URLs and generate results, how are they able to achieve this? What's the engineering behind generating such huge verbose of texts? Cause I always argue about the theoretical limitations of LLM, but now that these "agents" are able to manage huge verbose of text I dont seem to have a good argument. So what exactly is happening? And what is the ~~limit of AI~~ non theortical limit of AI?

Edit

I use a USBC docking hub and DP to connect to external monitor.

Everytime I connect to my external monitor(Linux mint) after connecting it to windows, external display just doesn't work. Only solution is to restart my Laptop, only then the external display works.

Any solutions? Without restarting my computer?

Rant warning!

I mean I just quit a office call, the share screen ribbon wouldn't disappear, opened task manager to kill it nope not found, finally had to select a "quit teams" option from start window. Note this is still windows 10.

Further the entire teams app is sloppy, when I start listing, the enter works but within the same message (when unintended) I have to ensure I click shift+enter to enter a new line. I can't choose between enter and shift+enter.

A few questions now:

  • why/how do these guys design a product this way
  • Does it mean Microsoft can keep running any app which necessarily doesn't appear on my task manager?

If this ain't bad enough, their philosophy is cherry on the cake

Hi channel,

Few days ago I made a post sighting my concerns around feeling lonely and craving insane dopamine. I got a lot of interesting suggestions while I am trying a lot of things: one at a time (hopefully).

I found this discord channel with multiple threads for body doubling, noise, general chat etc.. Just felt it would be interesting to share such a thing.

Edit: spelling

Hi Community,

As the title suggests, I feel like I am craving insane amounts of dopamine and looking for some sort of a human connection.

A bit of context, I have never lived by myself for most of my life: My school days were spent in hostel, further during my bacholers days I was always surrounded by my friends and we used to go out almost all days of the week. The first time I ever sort of lived by myself was during my first job, during which I started observing similar kind of feeling (I wasn't diagnosed then) and to subside this feeling I used to smoke weed, it made me calm.

Fast forward to now, I have realised weed is a bad cope up mechanism (don't smoke weed now) but I am going insane and unable to function at my best. I kind of get hyperfixated on my dating app matches, or go insane if my friends don't pick up my call etc.

I am trying to distract myself with things I like such as movies, or finding new novelty, trying to meditate etc. I do weekly therapy as well. But despite all the efforts, I feel like I am going insane and thus reaching out to the community for any help.

Edit: I take Ritalin LA - 30mg, used to take SSRI (Lexapro) and stopped it few days back as I feel very dud when I take those.

Edit 2: Added information about smoking weed: I dont smoke weed now.

Thanks in advance.

Hi community,

As the title suggests, I am struggling to stay functional in this weather. The air con makes the room feel weird and sweaty, I impulse purchased an oodie to stay warm and yet can't find a decent way to stay functional and get out of my bed unless I am expected to report to work.

Any tips/ideas? Thanks in advance.

PS: I take Ritalin LA (30 mg) and Escitalopram (10 mg)

Few things I remember about the website are: it contained ads, it listed the software first you had to click on the description to understand to which software it was an alternative of.

I am not sure if this is allowed, mods please feel to remove it if it violates any guidelines.

Update: Thanks guys, got it!
