What To Do When You Can't Find a Job? (lemmy.ca)

I have been trying to find a job for the past 2 years and I have not been able to go further than a round two interview of four. I have applied to multiple jon openings through LinkedIn, Indeed, SimplyHired, and other smaller platforms that I can't remember because I've been through so many. I have tried directly contacting companies asking if they are interested in freelance work or even an opportunity to have an informative interview and nothing. I have tried temp agencies and it's either truly crappy pay work or they are just not interested in me. I have updated my resume numerous times, I have gone to job fairs and talk with companies and nothing. I have tried to reach out to what little network that I have and they have really not been helpful. Hell, I've even tried applying to Walmart and I still got no response and it's been like 2 months. I just don't know what to do anymore. If anyone can kindly give me some advice, that would be greatly apperciated.

I have a Bachelors in Psychology and I have over 5 years of customer service experience.

I am approaching 1.5 years myself. Im older and have been in IT for over 25 years and have a bachelors of science and a masters of education. I don't really have anything to recommend. Im doing the same things. Hoping on hearing on a program I aplied to and have picked up very intermitten hourly work (not in IT). Mainstays I had in the past have dried up. Like as you pointed out temporary work. Im at a loss. Again my experience in my field goes back 25 years and I have 5 more years post college work experience and its never been this bad in my experience.

As a master if education, are you a teacher? I thought there was a huge teacher shortage

I'm so sorry. It's ridiculous that with all the experience and education that you have, you're not able to get anything. This job market truly sucks! I wish you the best luck and hopefully you are able to get into that program.

yeah the odd thing is I can say this is much worse than 2000 and 2008 and yet news wise you don't see anything except maybes in the background. we are all background. its not like its just older folks or younger folks or mid career folks. its all around and its not just IT but office jobs in general which used to be a good hunk of the job market.
