A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Blows my mind that nearly 30% of Canada voted to hand the country over to Trump, which is what electing Polliverre would have achieved. Both are taking marching orders from the Kremlin.
I wouldn't celebrate this victory too hard as this looks a lot like the 2020 US election and we all know things turned out the following election. I don't follow Canadian politics too closely but they seem to share a lot of the same issues with the US, so the Liberals better use the Democrats as an outline of what not to do if they want to retain any sort of power and influence in the future.
~30% of the people seem to be the mark for “will actively vote for fascism to destroy the country because of my prejudice and hatreds.”
It was 32% for us in the US.
It was 33% for Hitler and the Nazis in ‘32.
Didn't AFD get 20% in Germany's last election?
Do not make the mistake of thinking that trump can only happen in America.
No sane person who has been paying attention to global politics would make that mistake. I’ve been watching Canada’s elections with a lot of wary interest. It looks like they’ll be ok. For now.
21% in germany, the country that swore "never again" and the party is now nearing 30% as well in polls.
They would've won if it wasnt for a huge turnout that hadnt happened in a long time, and I think part of it was because of USA as well.
33% have severely deficient IQ
