A Boring Dystopia

The world we live in isn't just dystopic, it isn't just stupid, trying to describe all the ways it sucks just makes for a really boring story.

The real problem is our inability to make a corporation-independent alternative. It is impossible to "fix" Google, so we must work in the self-sufficiency direction.

I am actually using Qwant, but thought they relied on Bing?
Did that change?

Partially, I think. They is an joint venture on creating an independent European search infrastructure. I have heard Qwant using it for French market but not sure about other regions.

I think it's less a matter of making them as it is about getting people to use them.

Half of these are fairly big projects, both the making and the maintenance of.

So there needs to be a sizable amount of people actually using the products to make it worth the effort.
