In coke, which is acidic, sucrose breaks down into glucose and fructose anyway in the bottle before you drink it.

You can easily solve this by not drinking it.

I’ve been playing that game for 20 years now!

…I’ll still have a nice mixy occasionally, though.

Cane sugar has equal amounts of glucose and fructose though. High fructose corn syrup has more fructose than glucose which alters the taste.

It's really close though. 45/55 for the type of hfcs used in soft drinks vs 50/50 for sugar. Not sure that's enough to throw off taste. Maybe marginally less sweet since fructose is sweeter.

I can taste the difference. I like the HFCS better.

I remember watching a video about this. But I definitely prefer the taste of Mexican coke. Then it hit me, I think it might taste different depending on what material the packaging is. I have this same issue with coffee. I can taste if it was sitting in a plastic mug vs a ceramic one. So, theoretically, I think people might just like the taste of coke from a glass bottle.

It's not literally in the taste though, pour it in the other packaging if you want to confirm. If you try and think im wrong do a blind test first. I don't drink a lot of coke, but this definitely holds true for coffee.

Check the sodium level. Mexican coke has a lot more.

Depends on the state of your heart.

This us the first time I come across this; are the ratios different or something? Why do people prefer the taste of the sugar cane version (unless it's physiological)?
