Sometimes we have those little epiphanies in the shower.. sometimes they come from other places. This is a home for those epiphanies.

I'm not sure when or where this occurred, but at some point I just became less inclined to speak up on social media. I still do, of course, but now there's this little...cringe....inside of me whenever I do. The sarcasm, the gaslighting, the armchair 'experts' who seemingly exist just to punch holes in whatever opinion I have - this mean-spiritedness has made me far, far less likely to engage in most conversations online. And, I've watch this translate over into my offline life, as well. It seems like my world has become a gigantic minefield where every step could potentially blow up in my face from someone who somehow got offended by something I said, or someone who has made it their life's mission to correct every opinion I have. I just....stopped engaging, for the most part.

What's even worse is that I've found myself exhibiting the exact same sort of behavior from time to time. It's like social media is trying to train me to be argumentative and rude. Everyone tells me that it's 'just the way it is', but I can't help feeling like we can do better....or at least wishing that we could.

backstory is that i try to fill up my tank more when gas prices are at a low and less as prices go up to make my long term average cost per gallon lower.

now given current events, and empirical reality, gas has only been going up and will continue to go up. we could assume different curves(only constraint being that price per gallon goes up as time goes forward), but if you buy your gas now you will spend less money then you have if you bought it tomorrow, day after, or week down the road. my estimate is that it will be month minimum before it gets cheaper.

now that I have put this out there into the world you should fill up asap, I already filled up before making this post and other people will come up with this idea independently of me.

Who wants to imply their marriage is a joke?

Obviously those things suck no matter what day they happen on, but a lot of people’s first reaction to hearing about it is going to be immediately assuming (or at least wondering if) it’s a bad joke.

Due to social media, literally anyone with internet access and a loud voice has been able to get attention for any crackpot political opinion.

In various point-and-click adventure games, you could enter natural language instructions, way before LLMs were a thing.

And for FMV-style titles, real actors got photographed and filmed to create much more photorealistic games than you could ever hope for with motion capturing, raytracing or by using two GPUs to implant creepy photograph snippets onto rendered gameplay.

So, clearly, we weren't ready yet for point-and-click games. 💩

I never liked the analogy.

The french word for vagina is "vagin". IT IS MASCULIN.

We have been taken for fools! The charlattans in French linguistic departments are mocking us.

That would make our sinuses/brain cavity the attic and the tops of our heads the roof

Reminiscing on how kids of the 80s, 90s and 00s can all get games of their respective times via emulation and piracy, but anything inside Roblox is likely to be inaccessible when present day kids become adults and look back with nostalgia

I guess the realistic "video just stopped" or audio desync isn't as fun on a screen

Palm reading could mean reading something on one’s palm but toilet reading should never be a form of divination.

B5B - pentagram of businesses

B6B - businesses having sex

And what came before?

B0B - Bob?

Like, I’ve started projects that I waaaay underestimated. Maybe those druids were like “ok, yeah, we’re done here, let’s take the ‘L’” and moved on to something more practical.

Ever since its concenption, those of us who use the lemmyverse (maybe not me) have administrated it based on all of the very things he says we should watch out for in his latest StarTalk.

Every. Last. Thing.

Ironically (to use an example) all these points he brings up also converged in the "Leni drama" where the accusers who were bringing up all these different points and invalidating people with the opposite points now look really awkward in hindsight, especially the unapologetic ones. Proof that the masses can be in the wrong.
