Sometimes I read papers in the sauna, sometimes I just think. What do you do?

I would be interested in anybody's recommendations of sauna proof devices, i.e. to listen to podcasts

In my community, I'm basically the only one who uses the sauna. However, today, somebody else was using the sauna, or at least it looks like they used it. The bucket had water in it, and the temperature had been raised to 100 c. Normally I only do 80° c, but I thought f*** it, if they can do it I'll give it a shot.

Man, that is a wildly different experience! I could only last 13 minutes, not my usual 20. My toes and my ears were burning towards the end, which I normally don't get ever on 80°. Toward the end I was slapping my knees in my back like a crazy person just to keep the minutes going.

I can now sleep without the air conditioner running. I live in a very hot and tropical climate, it's often 32c at night. I've been consistently using the sauna daily for 4 months and I now realize I'm never turning on the air conditioning anymore.

I just had a friend stay with me and they asked how I could stand the heat, and it clicked! (Being a good host I turned on the ac for them)

I went outside to grab more wood. It was a little past midnight and so dark I couldn't see at all without my phone's flashlight. The third one from the pile buzzed very loudly in my hand. After the split second it took for me to realize I'm waving half a wasp nest on a stick while naked, I dropped everything and ran. I later investigated the other half of the hive still stuck on the wall; it was about 15 cm in diameter.

Hello 👋

We inherited an old sauna from the previous owner of our house and it has the pictured control panel. The left dial I get and the right side of the right dial is runtime, but I've never figured out what the left side does. It doesn't seem to power the oven while running, so I thought it might be a delay timer, but after running out it just stops.

The stickers say "time preset" and "runtime". I don't know what time preset could be.

The model says "Type 10210" if that helps. Google didn't.

Does someone have a similar model or maybe even a manual? Or just a general idea what the timer could be?

Thanks!

Just thought I drop this here. I guess Lemmy is the future and I hope many of our members will find us here, too. Feel free to explore our community and if you are around Munich, join us and let's talk tech in a sauna soon!

We're now also on Lemmy and I'd hope some sauna enthusiasts find us here in this sauna community. If you live around Munich or come for a visit, say hi and then we hope to cu soon at a sauna in/around Munich!

Our next meetup will be at the beautiful Starnberg Lake, we'll have a refreshing swim and a cold wheat beer after some really hot sauna ceremonies.

None of the mobile sauna builders made something with the features I was looking for, so I decided to build my own!

Thinking of replacing the current icon, in which the needle points to about 23 degrees. If anyone has a decent looking sauna meter, I'd appreciate it if you took a picture of it showing an appropriate temperature.
