An unofficial sub/community everything about Mullvad.

Rules:

  2. TBA

PS: Did you know the word "sub" is a perfectly reasonable name to refer to a community, it has no inherent connection to Reddit, since sub simply means below/under/secundary/inferior, which is pretty reasonable to interpret as "part of [instance]" thus community, hence sub. Thanks for my reading my rant.

Android app says connected but nothing will load no matter which server I connect to. I wouldn't think it would be a global issue but maybe their DNS is down?

DNS not resolving on PC (programming.dev)

Edit: seems to be back up

Edit2: some servers still seem to have DNS related problems, now on smartphone too. At least one application wasn't able to connect to the internet, reporting inability to resolve domain names.

I'm experiencing problems on my Linux PC. Starting about 50 minutes ago, some websites cannot be reached, my package manager cannot connect to its mirrors and ping doesn't resolve domain names into IP addresses. Some people of Reddit seem to be reporting similar issues.

How about people here?

If you use #Mullvad VPN (and if you don't, I don't know what you're doing with your life), #YouTube subtitles might not work because #Google is a great company, 100% ethical #sarcasm. To fix it, switch to weird countries like Cyprus.
You can always use the extension to change only Youtube.

Hi all,

I've opted to use another VPN provider due to costs, but I want to use Mullvad's DoH servers to take advantage of their blocklists (and reputation). I think this would make me stand out compared to users of the VPN, but blocking domains would improve my browsing experience and thwarts other non-browser stuff on my devices (OS telemetry and tracking, etc). Is this setting recommended as a matter of privacy/security?

Thanks in advance for any help and discussion.

I was reading around about private browsers and I came across mullvad's browser (only know them for the VPN), do you have experience using it? does it do anything different? I currently use librewolf and from what I can see the mullvad browser also is build from firefox. I generally prefer firefox-like browsers to chromium since i like way its set up and what it allows me to do. Its supposedly build by the same guys who made the tor browser (tbh i feel like thats just marketing). From their website it says its tor without tor but instead with a VPN. So technically I can accomplish the same thing with librewolf and a VPN?? Does the mullvad browser do anything new/different? One thing they do mention is browser fingerprinting does it do anything special to combat that? if i switch to mullvad instead but still have the same extensions is it more private?

Is there a way to enable split tunneling, like on macOS and Windows, on Linux so that you can select a program to always be in the split tunnel?

Mac and Windows

Linux
