I travel a lot for work and take my tools with me to give me something to do at night instead of drinking and staring at the walls too much. This really is where the hobby has come into its own.

The Nikons came with a case, but it was haphazard at best. I watched a YouTube video and thought I could do it better. The leather is the same pull up bison I made the wine tote from that I posted last week and this project taught me how to do box and butt stitching. Not bad for a few quiet nights in a Hilton.

I made a few minimal wallets from 5oz leather.

The one of the left is from the side I recently purchased. The other two are from a "cutoff" bundle I purchased a while back. I used leather "weld" and .8mm polyester thread. It's not quite easy getting a photo while not only wearing it, but also showing the front plus a bit of the backside of the watchband at the same time. It's a snap-on design, where I spent like a week shaping and sizing the leather to my wrist, including water shrink shaping and sizing, before considering it properly finished.

What started as a piece of 3-4 oz veg tan ended up as a shiny black card wallet. Today, I wanted learn more about two new additions to the workbench and see if I could easily integrate them into the hobby.

The first thing I wanted to figure out was how to import the physical template for the card wallet into xTool's Creative Space project dashboard. The process was pretty simple overall. Trace a heavy line around the template on a piece of white paper, take a pic of it, import it into the software, and then use the software to draw out a vector cutter template. Boom! After that, I timed myself to see how long it would take to cut out 4. Cutting a large piece to hold all 4 and running the job took 7 minutes!

The second thing I wanted to try was the airbrushing. I went with black since it's hard to mess up and just wanted to get a feel for the device. It wasn't bad at all and the finish looked great after applying neetsfoot oil to deepen the color, punching and stitching it up by hand, adding resolene to seal it, and burnishing the sides with tokonol and paraffin.

Overall, it was a great day of tinkering and learning!

Didn't quite make everything in the full costume but I plan on adding more over time that I have made.

The template was another one from Odin down in Texas. The hide was a 2-3 oz Cognac chrome tan from Montana Leather Company. On this one, I tried laser engraving out for my company logo and spent extra time dyeing the edges black and burnishing to a high gloss.

The template was from Odin Leather down in Texas. Picked up the hide from Montana Leather Supply while working in Billings, MT last year. That leather works wonderfully, if a little sensitive to fingernails while stitching it in the pony. The fastener is an antique copper Loxx and the handle is held on with antique copper Chicago screws. Fun project!

I recently ordered some 4-5 oz leather and it came in a few days ago. This a side, which is one full side of a cow.

I will be making a few minimal wallets and notebooks to begin with. I think I'll need to order a leather splitter since this is slightly too thick for a lot of smaller items.

I will eventually make a weekender duffle but will probably purchase another side for that.

I have a masquerade ball tonight and I thought I'd break my crafting dry spell and make my mask for it. Was a fun little mini project.

Left a big long ribbon length to make a big ol' bow and just hot snotted the flowers and feathers on. The stitch was a happy accident, I was going to just do a decorative stitch around the edges or something but I must have printed the pattern at slightly the wrong size as the eye holes were too far apart. So I took a big strip out of the middle and stitched the two halves back together with my favourite stitch that I love putting on most things I make.

And here is the base mask before I finished it and added the extras.

I have a plan for my future wallet and notebook combo! This is my fairly precise sketch. See images below.

I'll give it a Z fold with wallet on one side and notebook on the other.

The notebook part will have holes in the middle at the top and bottom where I'll attatch two elastics for two small notebooks. I might make them into one tho.

The wallet part will have a zipper all around and for the inside pockets I'll use fabric to reduce weight and thickness. The curves on the paper represent pockets so I'll have two on each side. I'm going to attatch them with a W shape so that I get a proper pocket in the middle.

I'm not sure what to do about the fact that leather has a front and back tho. I'd prefer to not have two layers to reduce thickness and weight.

I hope this makes sense and is possible

There are many similar cardholder out there but I drew the pattern for this one myself.

Made from a single piece (kind of a big T shape), veg-tan leather, hand dyed, and saddle stitched with linen thread.

There's a coin compartment, and another one that will easily fit 5-6 cards.

Finally, the card-holder! Probably made with a variation on saddle stitch where I sewed first one side, then the other. Sewn with cotton yarn, not very elegant haha. It can hold 4 cards comfortably on each side.

A quick mini tote bag out a 2 oz dark cherry leather.

A friend wanted to save the buckle from his old belt, so I made him an upgrade! Fully handstitched.

I heard that you can make a finger protector in leather to use when sewing and that they work really great, so of course I had to try it. They DO work great.

I used a holepuncher intended for fabric to create the holes that i sewed in, with thin-ish yarn.

It's not super pretty, but it works!

A while back I made this leather cover to fit a couple of A7 notebooks, also knows as travelers journal. It's made from scrap-leather, I did no sewing, the piece on the flap is glued on and the curved edge was from before. I just removed the stitches to fit the bottom leather under the flap on the inside.. I realize this barely fit as a leather craft, I hope it's okay anyway!

Another strap in pueblo burgundy, but this time with a foldable buckle and yellow linen thread. I wear this one on my lil Seiko 5. Happy to share details about it, as always!

Made with pueblo leather, I wouldn't really recommend it unless you have proper reinforcements, because it's very supple and won't hold up very good after a while.

Technically the second collar, because the first jig for the rivets didn't have guides. Everything was a little skewed plus the dome rivets were a little too small anyways. Good practice though.

Hand stitched, which really makes me want to buy a sewing machine.
