With apologies to my my malignantly compact 12 lane main bus, which I will not spend the effort to space out on account of my 25 hours Space Exploration save still being a "starter base".

Enjoy the biggest and baddest ammonia production out there! Capable of taking a full speed legendary pump like it's nothing ๐Ÿ’ช

I beat space age for the first time! And I think I did it in a weird way. my star!

Nauvis map

  1. Every planet, (substantial) platform, and little side project has a sushi belt. Most things happen on said belt. In only a few places do I just throw items away; most everything that goes into the sushi belt stays there/gets used.
  2. I killed 0 biter bases, and <10 pentapod rafts (I would have done 0 had I realized stompers dropped the eggs. Forever shame).
  3. Only a few hundred big biters killed. I'm not aware of triggering any attacks from any of the enemy types.
  4. No Nuclear! I built only enough uranium for a personal reactor. Space was almost entirely done with solar power. I also used very little coal power, and swapped it out asap.
  5. As a consequence: very few polluted trees. pollution cloud was kept small.
  6. Planet order: fulgora -> gleba -> vulcanis.

~800 hours. I was not efficient, and learning a ton (and sushi... it may not be for speedrunning). I have not watched any factorio content, but I'm told Doshington(sp?) has a base-game playthrough with sushi belts, and that our circuitry solutions are nothing alike. I use local 'read all on belt' strips to manage ratios, and don't track the total amount on any belts.

Sad that this sort of run is getting patched out (biter spawning wont be blockable after next major patch). See here for how that worked.

Let's face it: lights are a minor annoyance that are juuuust inconvenient enough that we want lights, but not inconvenient enough that we actually bother placing them.

So, now lack of lights reduce total average production by ~40% (or however long night is).

As a bonus, it now makes it far easier to selectively ease off on battery/coal plants - if you want to run daytime-only assemblers and just buffer the output for night-time, you don't have to run an entirely separate grid or futz around with circuits, you just neglect to place the light on that assembly line!

And before you research optics, you can only operate your assemblers during the day! Better hurry!

...if there are any.

Prior to 2.0 I was a big fan of AngelBob for its complexity and stylistically fit with vanilla factorio. (I never liked Pyanodon due to the latter: Breeding unicorns to collect piss belongs in a farming simulator, not Factorio, imho). Now that I'm at endgame Space Age, having visited Shattered Planet, and reliably have 7k SPM, I think it's time to aim for complexity again, akin to what I used to have with AngelBob.

Does AngelBob work well with Space Age? Any other overhaul mods that do?

Oooooooh. I've never used this bc I consider an exploit but I think the change might be controversial.

Hey everyone! This is a new community focused on NonPolitical Comics (NPCs), which essentially means no gloom and doom of the day stuff.

If you like the idea, we need help! Take a couple of minutes to find a comic that you like and post it here for the rest of us!

Mine is a mix of the following:

  • Description of the route they take
  • Some specialized function
  • Some title based on their design (GettingRailed and CryoBaby, for example)

Brainsssssssssssssss

I agree with quickstart. Quality needs another developer iteration. It's OK. It's not wube-level quality. Refrigeration is a must, or science not spoiling or something.

As is tradition, between Christmas and New Year the Chaos Communication Congress or C3 for short by the Chaos Computer Club, Germany's most well known hacker group, takes place. There are lots of talks, workshops and more about a broad range of technology, media and politics.

Yesterday, a talk was given on how to create a CPU in Factorio. The talk was delivered in German, but if you scroll down to the download section you can download either a video file embedded with an English translation or just an English audio track.

If you are interested, here is the media page with past talks and the stream of today's events.

After MANY hours of single-player playthroughs, I decided to join one of the public multiplayer games. It was a bit crowded and overwhelming (but very cool โ€“ so much creative engineering in there ๐Ÿ™‚), and I had no idea how to jump in and contribute.

I almost never play any multiplayer games, so this might be a dumb question, but... How does this usually go?

I had one previous space-age run that stopped a bit into Gelba. If im honest I really didn't care for the spoilage mechanics. Finally getting to the point in current run that planet explorations on the horizon. Want to try something different. Please recommend me a good planet to try next without spoilers (or spoilage).
