Back in the day I subbed two episodes of an anime for a convention. I'd really like to see this anime again. But, as this was about 25 years ago, I remember next to nothing about it. I'm pretty sure there was an invasion and there was a boy caught in the middle of it. The anime must've been new at the time, as a friend imported it himself to show new stuff at the convention.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? I truly don't remember anything else about this, despite spending so much time subbing it. I remember doing subtitles in different colors, but not the anime itself.

i was a little disappointed to see there aren't many spinoffs or anything. i'm hungry for in-universe content but also generally for similar media. i love the noir and dystopian vibes, and just the way the plot progresses. does anyone have recommendations for similar anime?

Hi! Has anyone here watched both the original Urusei Yatsura from 1981 and the remake from 2022? How do the two compare? I'm curious to hear about impressions and opinions.

I have been re-listening to the soundtrack of the original series, and many scenes came suddenly to mind. It was absolutely hilarious; I could compare it with Konosuba, but with ten times more craziness...

(If you also long for the soundtracks: https://archive.org/details/urusei-yatsura-ost Check out this as well, faithful companion since 2000: https://www.furinkan.com/uy/)

I was watching new episode of one piece and i I saw Luffy shocked after seeing joyboy’s haki but I don’t know why I think that Luffy was not shocked that how powerful joyboy’s haki is he was shocked because a robot was using haki and in the end we saw imu on his knees afraid and i don’t think that joyboy’s only haki can make imu on his knees it’s more likely that when imu felt joyboy’s haki he remember the fight with him and got PTSD form his haki What’s your thoughts on this?

So I never got deep into anime but I’ve been slowly working through my backlog of mostly Studio Ghibli movies and this morning Grave of the Fireflies jumped out as sounding interesting.

I was surprised to see it looks like there are THREE different English dubs and was wondering which is everyone’s favorite or if there is a fan consensus on which is “the best” version.

I assume the original Japanese with subtitles is the best way to watch it and I will probably rewatch it that way myself, I’ll be watching with someone who English is a second language and just can’t keep up with subtitles.

I enjoy anime, however, I feel anime has been on a quality decline over the past few years. They are hollow shells of new seasons, clones of other popular anime, generic and uninspired stories, etc.

Anyone else feel this way?

P.s. I'm TIRED of highschool themed anime omg go away

After watching the live-action adaptation on Netflix I decided to check out the anime.

I'm watching on Hulu so I might not be able to see all the episodes but that's okay since it's so long anyway 😂

I'm in the Alabasta Arc as of writing this.

IMHO, Mine had the right idea(or at least the right level of anger),

spoilerover some not-so-rare books, while Dennis is almost-as criminal as the arsonists in his desire to just run away when a good chunk of Atelier's books that went up in flames were One-of-A-Kind.
In his place, I would go to war with the kingdom itself, or at least eliminate Night Mist's leadership and duel Vigor(to the death), as well as Joseph Workstadt. Hell, he should have dueled Joseph over the business with Atelier's inherittance, but ... am I wrong?

I love that Let's Go Karaoke is blending thriller elements with comedy and slice of life; the story so far is portrayed in a sensible way so far, I enjoy the nuanced facial expressions and subtler body language. They've nailed Kyoji Narita role in the narrative, I enjoy the blend of conflict/bromance that Satomi Oka is experiencing when interacting with Kyoji.

It makes me wonder if they can maintain the correct tone for this anime throughout the airing (feels like an 11-12 episode anime). I'm also getting curious enough to read the manga afterward to see what the key differences are!
