As always a bunch of greedy and murderous rich thugs are very effective at fucking everything up. An eternal story really.

Well, invisible is how linux (mostly) is now, as opposed to windows which has become very visible and pushing and annoying by design. It is very refreshing to have an os which works and doesn't constantly annoy you with unwanted things.

You should try it again, I am pretty sure your experience will be very different from 2009, because a lot has happened to linux since then.

A distinct lack of molotov cocktails though.

I don't see the usefulness of that one compared to just deleting your comment in that scenario. This one will just be abused by trolls posting outrageous claims and then preventing people from replying by flagging the mistake option.

I don’t think IT guy, or at least the equivalent people in my life, would be supportive to the point that they would actively involve themselves in a shooting war in support of Trump, which is what this hypothetical scenario would turn into.

He wouldn't have to, the army and the police would do the shooting.

Won't all of that just reinstall itself after the next update?

We are not going to go WWII on the US, if that is what you are suggesting. Who would even do that? Russia and China are laughing their asses off about what is happening in the US right now. They never had it better, since the US voluntarily dropped its hegemony and basically joined their side.

Europe wouldn't even if it could (which it obviously can't).

The US can't be saved by anyone but their own people. But Americans so far seem to be very easy to bully into submission and accept their country turning fascist.

The thing is that outside of North America people aren't terrified to death of decimals. We actually use them and find the process simple. So those factors of yours are completely irrelevant to us.

Most people by far don't attend fashion design school.

Regardless of how the AI bubble will behave, corporations are pushing hard to discourage private hardware ownership in favour of rented cloud-based services. It is very unlikely that availability will ever return to the situation it was prior to the current situation, they will attempt to force cloud services through artificial scarcity and high prices on hardware.

At least as good as google. The belief that google is a better search engine is antiquated, based on a situation that no longer exists. Google has long since fallen to ad algorithms and bloat.
