Learned the Hard Way That Each Costco Sets Their Own Prices for Gasoline (lemmy.world)
 

Quite naive of me, but I assumed Costco prices were Costco prices. I needed gas, and was going to hit my local Costco--but realized there was one just a couple of miles away on my way home.

Filled up and then checked Gas Buddy. My "home" Costco was $4.99/gal and I had just paid $5.13/gal just 8 miles away.

Not a huge amount of money wasted, but sometimes it's the principle of the thing, you know? 😏

I do not understand why people aren't satisfied with the uppermost (open) case of whatever when there's a large stack (and, let's face it--everything is stacked at Costco). I watch them struggle to lift 4 or 5 cases so they can pick one box of raisins from the 5th level down. I get if there was one left on top that was crushed or some other moron opened...but, really?

The other one is the family of 5 that walk next to each other (think front line of an NFL team) while pushing the cart as slowly as possible down the 'wrong' side of the aisle.

Yes, driving, parking--all manner of auto-related behavior are prime examples of this. But I would add that pedestrians are not faultless. Can't count the number of times I've had to wait for a young, healthy pedestrian just taking. their. time. in the crosswalk while a bunch of us are waiting to complete a turn, for example. I always double-time it in a crosswalk--it's not only courteous--it diminishes the likelihood of me getting run down by someone looking at their phone while they're driving.

In this case, I'm referring to the notion that we all make minor sacrifices in our daily interactions in service of a "greater good" for everyone.

"Following the rules" would be a simplified version of what I'm talking about, I suppose. But also keeping an awareness/attitude about "How will my choices affect the people around me in this moment? "Common courtesy", "situational awareness", etc...

I don't know that it's a "new" phenomenon by any means, I just seem to have an increasing (subjective) awareness of it's decline of late.

The stupid Netflix button on my "Toblerone" remote is constantly getting accidentally pushed. (Sometimes I think just walking too close to it sets it off.)

Are there aftermarket options for a remote to use with my Shield TV? I realize now how much better laid-out the remote for my old Roku was.

I've mostly gotten glazed/confused/vaguely frightened looks from people who've asked about my shoes, or when conversations about footwear have come up. (I'm not stopping people on the street and proselytizing mind you.)

Do you have to fight the urge to approach people wearing shoes with 4-inch thick soles, shouting, "Vivo saves!!" 😏
