If I understood correctly, you may find https://wgtunnel.com/ useful. No need to launch wireguard manually anymore.

I have to try this, thanks.

EDIT: unfortunately there's no way to activate notifications in Safari

I'm currently using email (not self-hosted for now) but sometimes the file size exceeds 25 MB and it won't get sent. I'm looking for a solution simpler than setting up a mail server.

Also ntfy can be self-hosted (I'm already doing that for other reasons) and it supports file attachments. The problem is the iOS app. Unfortunately gotify does not even have iOS support.

I looked into Syncthing for other reasons in the past, isn't it a sort of Dropbox replacement? I'm not sure how I can achieve what I want with it.

Let me add specifications I forgot to mention: the file is a pdf and the whole thing should be simple enough for a not tech savvy person. So I'd like to avoid having to browse a list of files etc.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that the file is a pdf, unfortunately home assistant does not support that https://companion.home-assistant.io/docs/notifications/notification-attachments/#supported-media-types

I’ve already looked at pushover, but discarded it because it’s not self hostable.

I want to send a file to an iPad from a cron script. Currently I'm attaching it to a mail, but if the file is bigger than the max attachment size it won't be sent. Also in this way I'm using an external service when it's not needed, since both source and destination are on my lan. I tried ntfy because I was already using it for other tasks, so the server was already in place, but then I realized that iPad app is very limited. I also considered to set up a mail server, reachable only within my lan, but since that seems an overkill I'd like to find an alternative.

Hi to everyone. I'm looking for a self hosted ntfy alternative which allows file attachment to notifications on iOS, I'm already hosting ntfy but unfortunately the iOS app is very basic and it does not support attachments.

As in the title. Is there anything? I have Symfonium on my phone as Jellyfin client and it's great, one click and it plays random albums. Unfortunately I cannot install it on my tablet as it's running Android 8.0, so too old for Symfonium. I tried all the Android clients I could install on it, but no one seems to have this function. So I set up Volumio on an old rpi clone hoping it had this function, but nope. Before I increase the e-waste numbers getting another cheap ass Android device, is there another solution?

I wanted to share a service I'm hosting, but didn't feel comfortable just leaving publicly accessible, even behind a reverse proxy. In the meantime I did not want to give access to my whole lan with a VPN, or redirect all internet traffic from a client thru my network. So the idea is to run a WireGuard instance on my OpenWRT router in a completely isolated zone (input, output and forward set to reject on firewall) and then forward a single port from the service host's. Client is android, so using WG Tunnel and split tunnel just for the relevant app should not impair client's network access. Initial tests seems to be ok, is there anything I may have overlooked? Please feel free to comment.

Hi, I've just replaced my "HTPC" and done a fresh install of Debian on it. There's a strange issue with Kodi and the focus under Wayland: after some time Kodi (running in full screen) loses focus so I cannot navigate it with the TV remote anymore, but I have to switch back to Kodi using ALT+TAB on the keyboard. I'm not sure of when this happens, basically I power on the TV on the next day and Kodi has lost focus, the PC is always on. Since something like this had never happened before on the old PC (running Mint), I tried switching to xorg instead of Wayland and the problem disappeared. Desktop environment is KDE, Kodi is installed via official flatpak. No standard keyboard or mouse are connected to the PC, only a wireless keyboard with touchpad which is pratically always powered off, so it is impossible that someone is switching focus by mistake. Does anyone have any clue?
