Does it work well? Which one to choose? The official Matrix site shows 3 that seem maintained:

Does anyone have some insight? I don't want to try all of them.

Edit: I don't need anything super fancy like double puppeting. I just want the data from the several Discord communities I joined available through my Matrix server. And it's just me using it. But it should bridge the rooms properly and include the popular media formats, reactions etc.

Thanks for spreading the word. We get these complaints every few weeks. More people need to be educated and move away from these instances to make the Threadiverse a better place.

Thanks, didn't know...

"Vermont became the first state in the continental United States to ban billboards (1968). Hawaii prohibited the advertising signs back in the 1920s. Maine and Alaska are the only other states to outlaw billboards." (https://vtdigger.org/2021/07/11/then-again-vermonts-billboard-ban-followed-a-winding-road-to-passage/)

I didn't read all of it. Wonder how that's handled and translates to private property next to the road.

Linux and a browser with an adblocker will get you most of the way on the computer.

For real-life I don't have good advice. You could move somewhere where it's less common. But I think sports for example comes with ad banners everywhere.

Sure, ~~if GUI apps don't handle it they just keep running. It's just asking them to terminate.~~ [Edit: I'll try that]

(We could just have a look at the code of GQRX in specific or just try it.)

That is not true. If you use SIGKILL (9) it ends the process totally. Other signals don't do that. And per default the cli commands don't send SIGKILL, but SIGTERM. It nicely asks the program to terminate and the program is supposed to write down it's data and do what it needs to do when signaled like that. You'd need to attach a '-9' to kill it without warning. (Even if the command is called 'kill'.)

I think GrapheneOS isn't made for that purpose. It's made to be safe and do privacy well. I think signature spoofing, rooting to circumvent things etc are opposing requirements. I don't think everything works. There are websites and other comments with more info. My Banking TAN App works, though. Google Pay doesn't.

I don't think history is a factor in the way we think back to WW1 or WW2. Yes, it plays a role. But in my uninformed opinion it's more people just hate each other. They've lost relatives because of the other side. They can't have this happen to more people they like. Hospitals and power plants explode, people live in poverty. People die. Rockets get shot every day. Revenge takes place. I'd be pissed, too. People on both sides are living under constant attack. Religion and history gets on top and makes it yet more difficult. Politics is more focused on retaliation than compromise or working towards a solution. Agreements are short-lived and people show over and over they can't be trusted. It's a bad situation in every way.

Additionally there are some people who just like murdering civilians. And they'll do if they get the opportunity.
