I live in the US and just bought a pair of Fairbuds XL which I like so far but I'm a bit annoyed they don't have a 3.5mm jack and don't come with the USB-C to 3.5mm cord either. They don't seem to stock it on their Amazon store and since I'm in the US I can't order from their website either.

What other options do I have? Can I used a generic USB-C to 3.5mm dongle to use them wired? Or do I need Apple's $40 USB-C to 3.5mm cable?

You can download the APK right from their website as well as I believe their GitHub.

Their website also has the certificate hash to verify with AppVerifier

Here's the Side of Burritos video with two followup videos in the description (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzpVI4zaso0)

I don't really know much about it to be honest, and the video is pretty old, and someone in the comments says the issue is fixed but I haven't seen that anywhere else. I just use Obtanium anyway since you can get most FOSS apps from GitHub, a for ones that don't, you can still find F-Droid apps. SideOfBurritos also has a more recent video about how to set up and use Obtanium if you're interested.

Welcome to the fold!

Just a heads up, GOS doesn't recommend the F-droid app as apparently there's some security concerns. SideOfBurritos on YouTube talks more about it. An app like Droidify or Neo Store would be better and still uses the same F-Droid repositories. I use and really like Obtanium which allows you to download and manage apps directly from their websites, GitHub, F-Droid, & more.

Eat bolts clanker

For context I switched to Magic Earth a while back as it was the best Google Maps alternative to me, however with the recent switch to a Freemium model that also introduced a ton of bugs, I'm looking for other alternatives.

One thing I noticed immediately about comaps is its misssing a LOT of addresses and places here in the US that were available on Magic Earth. Can I somehow manually import better address/maps data? It's to the point it's really not usable for me but I'm struggling to find anything else that works nearly as good as Magic Earth.

Return Pixel 7 to Amazon and start looking for used Pixels on Craigslist or FB Marketplace

As far as I know there's nothing that works in the US

Yeah I got a MagSafe case and started using a MagSafe wallet I had from when I was on iPhone so I usually just use my physical cards now. Would be nice to not have to worry about forgetting my wallet but oh well.

I'm pretty much completely on FOSS now and really the only thing I miss, other than G Pay and compatibility with what other people use, is Google Maps, but Magic Earth is decent.

Congrats! I made the switch a few months ago and haven't looked back. Highly recommend everyone switch to GrapheneOS, even if you still use Google Play Services or other Google apps (obviously trying to get away from those is always the right move but it isn't that simple for most people)

Now just wish Google Pay or some other contactless payment could work with it...

Worst part of this is nuclear regulation really does need rewritten but this administration somehow finds the worst way to do everything.

Basically the title. Is there a way to disable notifications for an individual channel while still being subscribed?

Who wants to join?

This whole post comes from my experience joining and trying to use Peertube. The immediately obvious problem is getting creators to post on Peertube which is an entirely separate issue. Even once I did decide I wanted to join Peertube and try to find all the content I could, I still ran into issues and it just wasn't a smooth experience at all. I'm fine with that as I understand the fediverse works differently and Peertube is a relatively small project (especially compared to YouTube) and I can accept that because I support what Peertube is doing as an open source federated platform. However, most people don't care about all that and even if they hear about Peertube and creators start moving there, regular people will still struggle to use it in its current state.

"Default" instance

Creating an account is confusing and the whole "choose your instance" is extremely unintuitive for new fediverse users. Obviously this isn't unique to Peertube, but other fediverse platforms like Lemmy and mastodon have solved this by having a "default" general instance to direct people to (e.g. lemmy.world & mastodon.social).

Search/Discovery

This somewhat goes hand-in-hand with the previous point, but it's really hard to search and find new creators/videos. Part of the reason is searching in most instances will on search that instance and maybe a few other instances that are specifically federated with yours. The closest to a "universal" instance I've found is peertube.wtf, but it is extremely slow for me and sometimes just doesn't load at all. Maybe this has to do with the fact that it is also searching so many federated instances, or maybe it's because it's based in Denmark and I'm in the US. Either way, I created an account but it was basically unusable so I switched to TILvids which seems to have a decent amount of creators but isn't federated with many other instances. There's also Sepia Search but it honestly doesn't seem to perform great and it's very unintuitive to have to go to a different website to search, then the finding a creator/video but it goes to that instance, so to subscribe, comment, like, etc. you need to find a way to open that video within your instance.
