Car dependency is bad for food culture. It encourages massive chains and drive throughs and makes it harder for mom and pops to thrive

Then say that. Say that the societal expectations around monogamy are unethical (which really isn’t that crazy of a take). Don’t say “monogamy is unethical” carte blanche because thats not really what you mean. Thats where it feels like ragebait, and is a classic formula they use.

Bro just loves to ragebait. You can be perfectly happy like that, doesn’t mean monogamy is unethical.

That is also an anecdote. Really this is something thats very difficult to study accurately, and so forming hard opinions one way or the other is irresponsible.

I have noticed these things go much more smoothly when you bring them from the perspective of a positive: Lets improve cycling infrastructure! Lets make our streets safer for pedestrians! Etc…

One thing that has helped me get out of this nihilistic trap sounds a but mystical but bear with me: The self and your perception of it is a construct of your brain. In reality all conscious beings are the same. You are me and I am you, we experience as one, just with different experiences. Future generations will experience the world for us just as we are experiencing it now for the past.

Yeah I’d argue time is actually the most expensive thing for a mars mission. And that’s going to require a hell of a lot of mission time nobody knows how to do yet. We get a head start on it now, getting a working lifter series in production and a functioning commercial lander and habitation scene and you’ll have a much better mars mission. I think the view of mars or bust asap asap comes from a lack of understanding of how big the technical leap is from doing a moon to doing a mars mission.
