The program completed 86 improvements across 22 neighborhoods last year and has 35 additional projects planned across nine neighborhoods this year. Improvements include speed cushions, speed tables, raised crosswalks and curb extensions.

Sounds like fairly started stuff, glad it's working.

"This will convince everyone I'm a good guy for sure!" ?

I should stifle my urge to tell it what the correct answer was when I have to go look it up myself.

The leak comprises roughly 337,000 files, including internal affairs investigations, unredacted criminal complaints, witness identities, and even officers’ medical information.

Bummer, not just their own data.

Gonna have to try that out. I think it would have told interesting stories on some past repos.

I wish ''co-authored by AI' was easy to flag in vcs.

Good to see veterans speaking out against war.

One of the interviewees is from https://aboutfaceveterans.org/ , who also had a speaker at our No Kings rally. Seems like a good organization, specifically supporting military who are uncomfortable with what they've been assigned.

Impressive marketing spin on "our product and deployment strategies are wildly insecure."

No surprise that in the video the gestapo are clearly in no danger.

Is the illustration a lynching? Is there a joke or political comparison here?

$160/yr for a two person plan. (And I use it on phone, personal, work, gaming — it's not like their limiting user sessions.) I pretty much only use the search.

[–] pageflight@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago

Yep, but it's optional. I have the AI summary in my search off.

Switched to Kagi a year ago, haven't looked back.

This is its third year, hopefully we'll get some good harvest.

I had the griddle hooked on a couple screws for a long time, and my partner encouraged me to finally upgrade.

griddle on rack

I cut up a seat I'd someone else was throwing out.

Pieces

Table saw to cut widths, band was to shape the holders, back to dado on the table saw to notch the backs of the holders.

Hand plane for all the flat sides, sanded the edges. Spent more time finishing it than it really merits for something that will be hidden almost all the time.

varnish

Someone recommended these a while back. The 280 grit worked very quickly; the 120 flap wheel took off material too fast. The sanding wheel used the spring mount that I happened to already have from the cutting set. It wore down pretty quickly, so getting a bigger pack of off -brand ones would be more economic. So much easier than sanding by hand!

SELLANO SIMMONS: Yeah. First of all, Amy, thanks for having us.

Brian [McGinnis] is facing four counts, three counts of assault on police officers. There are three individuals named, that are law enforcement. The fourth and final count is resisting arrest. He’s being charged by the United States government in Washington, D.C., Superior Court. And we’re looking forward to having our day in court regarding these matters.

Having watched the video, It'd be hard to call anything he did 'assault'. Resisting, sure. Resisting tyrrany and genocide especially.

AI users who are being immiserated and precaratized by bosses who have been convinced to fire their colleagues and pile their work on the terrorized survivors of the layoffs hate the AI, because it makes their life worse in every way.

Whereas the people who choose when and how to use AI — the centaurs — are only using AI to the extent that it is useful, and throwing it away when it’s not. They may make poor choices about the AI, but those choices are theirs, they are not imposed from on high. A bicyclist who chooses to commute on two wheels can have a glorious ride, or they can ride like a maniac and end up eating dirt, but they are having a fundamentally different experience from, say, a gig delivery platform rider who has been given an impossible quota and is having their pay eroded by algorithmic wage discrimination.

I find these articles providing pithy names for AI's holes quite helpful, another was "semantic ablation." So I appreciate the overall mission here:

Every day the bubble persists, the harms of today and tomorrow increase. We need to burst that bubble as soon as possible. That’s how I came to spend the summer writing a book for Farrar, Straus and Giroux with the working title The Reverse-Centaur’s Guide to AI, whose goal is to improve the quality of AI criticism so that it inflicts maximum damage on AI swindlers and their terrible investment bubble.

darned sock

At first the yarn felt a bit thick, but after walking around in it for a little bit I forgot about it. And it was a bit hard to get the thick needle through the sock. The actual weaving went very smoothly.

Cooking 1 cup of white rice in a Zojirushi rice cooker. I'm surprised at the slow intro/outro. This rice cooker only gives a countdown when it's within 10 minutes or so of being done, so I was wondering if you could tell more about how it's doing with a current trace.

The bill (A4446) would permit “civil action for violations” of the U.S. Constitution “related to immigration enforcement.” That, state Sen. Raj Mukherji said, would allow people to file lawsuits challenging whether U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have violated constitutional rights.

The measure is actually tied to a broader package of new bills that Mukherji, Bhalla, Brennan, and other legislators introduced this week aiming to put checks on ICE and protect immigrants in one of the most diverse states in the nation.

Given the reaction, sounds like it's going the right direction:

Assemblywoman Dawn Fantasia, R-Morris, added: “The bill title is wild, but the premise is wilder.” “Don’t have the text yet, but if it means what it sounds like, that’s illegal entry followed by a state-created pathway to sue over enforcement,” she said.

Using the recipe from seriouseats.com .

Mix equal mass egg, AP flour, and liquid. I used 6 eggs (242g) and Oatley full fat milk, the recipe is actually 3:1 milk:water for the liquid. And 2g / 1/2t salt (whoops, forgot the salt this time but still pretty tasty). Rest overnight.

Pour 2t oil in each well (I use a muffin tin since that's what I have). Preheat tin with oil in the oven until smoking. Pour about 1/4c batter into each well.

Cook 12-15m. (Below, at about 200F interior temperature / 4 minutes.)
