It is bad. But its sooooo on fucking brand. If there isn't some "respected body" to suggest what you did is bad, then you did nothing wrong. He doesn't hate climate science past it stops him from doing what he wants. But if you can frame it in a way that motivates people against him (less fisheries means less sport fishing, less wild areas means less hunting, no snap benefits means more crime) you nip away at his base, and he doesnt have a ton of support. its marginal vs the voting public, even in midterms.

I've only had something like that happen once, and I suggested that I had some good resources from my wife and kid, and I could hook him up. He kind of awkwardly laughed it off and said he was good.

I still don't know if he was trying to be use it as a punchline, or trying to share his condition. I certainly don't want to push people away from sharing their struggles if they are using humor to deal with a hard topic. But yeah, using it as a punch line is pretty insensitive. I've said I was being OCD as a joke about being particular about a project, and I totally could have hurt someone's feelings who actually struggles with a real condition, and that kind of sucks.

I'm in the states, but it's the same here. Success and thriving is the autistic kid not being disruptive to their classmates. So for now, our kid is homeschooled. We're lucky enough to not have to expose him to being overwhelmed 40 hours a week. Maybe he'll try again in a few years, but for now, stay at home mom is killing it.

Theres an impedance mismatch in expectations, I'm expecting my owed publicly provided education, but they are providing* trauma inducing childcare.

That said, I get it. The school departments aren't set up or funded for individualized education plans, if they were we'd be in a much better position. They are setup for take care of the fat part of the curve of students, and identify and neutralize disruptions. If classes were closer to a 1 to 5 ratio, if teachers were given more control, it could be different. If educators got more than a handful of 1 hour seminars on sped needs, pda, sensory issues, they would certainly handle it better.

Gotcha, thank you. So every night theres around 800mil of these and it spiked 25x. Theories why? Banks need liquidity, why don't they have the cash on hand? unreported losses? over leveraged?

what the context here? its a graph with no real explanation of the source of the funds or the destination. im not saying its bad content, i'm just confused.

Inflation is 88 percent since y2k. Excited for a 50k a year job out of college in the year 2000? That's 90k now. 7.25 minimum wage from 2000? Should be at least 13 now. It isn't, should be.

People are alway "oh, money doesn't go as far as it used to", but they don't get how dramatic it is.

I don't think theres any amount of scientific study thats going to change the loud minority of people who are anti transitioning. They would look at this study and see that the brainwashing is complete, and "they" could do it to anyone, and the people studied aren't to be trusted.

The only evidence I need to support the medical consensus is to see that suicidal ideation rates are lower in people who transition that have gender dysphoria, and the handful of sad boys I knew who are now happy girls post transition.

Did all "nazis" actively do crimes against humanity? Whats the bar they have to hit to be a nazi? Put on a uniform? shoot a roma? say non-aryans are sub human? You want to draw a bright line between national socialists and racists, I'm not going to stop you, but I think nazi is just short hand for bootlicking people who enable the dehumanizing of others at this point in time.

What word would you prefer?

I can't say you're wrong, I just think theres a line between can and can't removes discretion. Given the budget and produce to make nice healthy meals, the school hopefully try to get kids healthy food. But sometimes a sad kid needs an oreo, or a kid needs shelf stable food to eat over the weekend, let the locals do it and not ban all garbage food.

I don't think you're coming from a bad place, I just feel like there are competing interests between whats good for kids physically and economicaly (long term) vs short term (mentally). We want schools to do both, and ideally with healthy great food. but I'm sure you have needs for terrible food sometimes, judgement free, and denying that comfort and calories because you think they should like better food, doesn't feel great. ideally, healthy whole local food...but also some baby steps into it maybe?

I have mixed feelings on this. Multiple family members worked in public schools, and a lot of kids want garbage processed foods. They know and like fruit loops and gold fish. They also like tomatoes and fresh fruit sometimes, but sometimes they just want comfort foods. I fully support healthy options and funding school lunches to the point they are delicious and nutritious, but you gotta meet some of these kids where they are, not where you want them to be.

I enjoy shit talking the silent and boomer gens having it easier, but I know I'm wrong. They were raise by people who went thru the cvil war, ww1, and the great depression. There's a survivorship bias in who you have to hear from, there was the psychological trauma of the constant drum beat of the cold war, the civil rights movement, only being able to live one way. I know they also went thru it, but they are so outsized in their control of the economy and news now I'm just tired of viewing the whole world thru their ancient ass lens.
