I mean, relatable. But can we please leave people alone? Paparazzi are scum

string theory lied to us and now science communication is hard : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kya_LXa_y1E

TL;DW: it never was a good theory and the majority of physicists stopped caring about a long time ago because of that

Huh, Samsung is not even on the list?

Interesting topic, but the random usage of "AI" to do things because they did not want to x, followed by them doing x anyways a paragraph down was weird. Also all the xitter LinkedIn style posts and pages of slop code made it awful to read...

Well Linux and a lot of other distros still work on those devices. And even apt/debian will work there if someone ports rust to that architecture. That is the good thing about FOSS. Not that everything always works everywhere, but if someone cares enough they can make it happen.

Had the opposite situation with a colleague. Told us his car was a mess, expected this. But he had the cleanest, most pristine, old Mercedes I have ever seen.

If you have positions in companies that are overvalued due to the AI bubble, you can sell them or better yet place a stop loss. That way you can still benefit from the bubble further inflating, with less risk that you hold the bag at the end.

Other than that, invest in unrelated companies/ETFs with less weight on these companies. You'll still crash with the rest of the market but should recover faster than those in the AI bubble.

Don't try to do anything fancy. You'll have to gamble to time the pop and even if you're right, you may still get outperformed by someone with just an S&P500 ETF over that time.

In TF2 lore that might actually be canon like this for the Soldier.

"They" do not lie, cheat or plot. It is just a statistical model with no intelligence or awareness. Hyping up the dangers of mathy maths is still hyping up "AI".

My main question first: Is my setup incorrect or are the dimming zone based monitors really annoying in day-to-day productivity? For one, the brightness of elements on the screen change too much. I.e. the task bar and cursor brightness change drastically depending on the background, even on low settings. On the medium/high settings of backlight dimming you can clearly see the square backlight behind the cursor. Is this normal and I'm just sensitive to this?

Also general HDR question: SDR white content like documents and websites are insanely bright. Is this also normal or should I play around more with the settings? But I assume I should switch them back when I actually want to consume HDR content?

Would love to hear from someone with some experience with HDR monitors especially LCD with dimming zones.

Backstory

I'm currently upgrading my two ancient 1080p 60Hz monitors. Nowadays I do mostly productivity stuff with my monitors, especially a full-time work from home job. But I do play games occasionally, so I wanted to get something for that aspect too.

I got myself the AOC G27G3XMN because it was recommended by Monitors Unboxed as a good entry level true HDR monitor. I wouldn't mind spending more on a monitor, but OLEDs for productivity don't feel worth it to me.
