The decision was made according to the report after the Commission became aware of the group's existence last month and deemed the risk of compromise too high. While there is no evidence yet that communication has actually been intercepted, the threat situation has escalated. Just recently, a private phone call between a journalist and an EU official was intercepted and published. Insiders also report sophisticated phishing attempts. These were intended to trick cabinet members into revealing their Signal PIN codes, thus causing them to lose control of their accounts.

looks like theyre concerned about targeted phishing attacks and organizations being unable to control user accounts from the top down (and thus read their communications) in order to reinstate and do damage control surrounding a negligent user after an attack. ultimately the user is getting tricked into revealing their password, so... human element. perhaps matrix would be best for large organizations like this, for individuals however simplex chat has no identifier tied to the account and in order to compromise a chat theyd need direct access to the computer or the simplex database export afaik, but all programs are vulnerable in that way.

there are many types of chromosomes outside of xy and xx. and they are about as common as being trans. shit, its fairly common for karyotype tests to come back with only an x for people past a certain age, a lot of people lose their second sex chromosome over time. this would make many people have an unverifiable 'birth sex' beyond just what is physically in their pants

even if i did have an xy chromosome (i dont even know if i do) being biologically male or female is nebulous. "biological men" dont have big feminine tits and estrogen in them for decades, but i do. so at minimum i am something not phenotypically or biologically male or female despite identifying as a trans woman

i like bazzite/fedora atomic a lot, i also quite enjoy vanillaos (if you like debian). if you have an issue on any of them its trivial to rollback to a previous patch and pin that patch until someone does something about it

I have come into possession of an oled monitor due to a friend giving it to me, however updating its firmware has become a nightmare. It doesnt seem possible to update it without windows. Windows PE live discs do not work at all either. I've tried wine and a vm, neither worked.

https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=439932 This forum mentions the issue as well but there is no resolution. Thoughts?

Currently digging into a lot of foreign websites and am wondering what the best and most private way to translate a whole screen is. I use linux.

I had to deal with some guy at work trying to do some tiktok video and including me in it so I could complement his side gig or some shit (and likely only including me because women get views). And if I complain too much about being included in their grift everyone will shit on me for being a karen or for not helping him with it. Jesus fucking christ, I hate people that try to constantly plaster their face and name on everything to make money. Fuck youtubers, fuck tiktok, fuck ads, stop stealing peoples work for a quick buck 'by doing commentary', leave me the fuck alone

Graphs can be found here on their github. Since around mid November the active user count for Bazzite has gone up by around 16k active users.

Personally, my only wish for Bazzite is a Cosmic version 👼 I tried it out recently and it seems fairly impressive

Bazzite is seeing an insane amount of growth right now

Here is Fedora's upstream graph to compare:

Now we have the immutable Exodia, VanillaOS for Debian, KDE Linux for Arch, Bazzite/Fedora Atomic for Fedora, NixOS for NixOS. What's great about this is KDE is zeroed in on developing for immutable distros now and will make their apps work better with them, this will help the whole ecosystem.

News article: https://pointieststick.com/2025/09/06/announcing-the-alpha-release-of-kde-linux/

Just what the world needs, another Linux distro…

A sentiment I have in the past expressed myself.

However, there’s a method to our madness. KDE is a huge producer of software. It’s awkward for us to not have our own method of distributing it. Yes, KDE produces source code that others distribute, but we self-distribute our apps on app stores like Flathub and the Snap and Microsoft stores, so I think it’s natural thing for us to have our own platform for doing that distribution too, and that’s an operating system. I think all the major producers of free software desktop environments should have their own OS, and many already do: Linux Mint and ElementaryOS spring to mind, and GNOME is working on one too.

Besides, this matter was settled 10 years ago with the creation of KDE neon, our first bite at the “in-house OS” apple. The sky did not fall; everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.

Speaking of KDE neon, what’s going on with it? Is it canceled? If not, doesn’t this amount to unnecessary duplication?

KDE neon is not canceled. However it has shed most of its developers over the years, which is problematic, and it’s currently being held together by a heroic volunteer. KDE e.V. has been reaching out to stakeholders to see if we can help put in place a continuity or transition plan. No decision has yet been made about its future.

While neon continues to exist, KDE Linux therefore does represent duplication. As for unnecessary? That I’m less sure about that. Harald, myself, and others feel that KDE neon has somewhat reached its limit in terms of what we can do with it. It was a great first product for KDE to distribute our own software and prepare the world for the idea of KDE in that role, and it served admirably for a decade. But technological and conceptual issues limit how far we can continue to develop it.

10k added users since last post. Here are upstream Fedora numbers only

bazzite seems to be so crucial for widespread adoption, watching with great interest!
