Looking into getting into shooting again. I was going to initially go for an AR15, but they are super banned in my state. So I've been checking out getting something similar that is legal.

Is the Ruger Mini 14 a good substitute? Just mostly want it for 99% fun shooting at the range, 1% personal safety.

Hoping to get some general advice on semi auto rifles and whatnot. Thanks!

Hi all, my spouse and I are planning a trip to china this year for vacation, in October. I was hoping to field some advice on where to go exactly, what to see, and general advice on navigating while only understanding English. What apps should I install on my phone for payment, translation, etc.

Rough plan currently is to fly into Hong Kong/stay for 1-2 days. Train to Shenzhen for 1-2 days. Train to Beijing 1-2 days. Then fly back.

Not sure exactly what we want to see, yet. For sure, the Great Wall. Also want to take a super fast train to Beijing.

In addition, we have decided to host a new, experimental frontend for lemmy, hosted at https://next.hexbear.net/. This frontend is in-development at https://github.com/sunaurus/lemmy-ui-next. Its generally a faster, more efficient, and simpler UI. It is missing some features, such as markdown editor and emoji picker currently. But, if you are on a low-powered device, you may find the experience of browsing and posting much better than the official UI.

Please post any bugs or feedback here and I'll try and address them if possible.
