The Sesh Token wasn't for them, it was meant as a reward for the community for running nodes, even if you don't believe in Sesh you can trade it for something more valuable
SimpleX is doing something similar with Ethereum (similar here in technical terms means not so similar at all)
Also note that Retoswap is the only decentralized XMR exchange afaik, so at least the buying of XMR nearly always requires KYC.
