You can't vote for your own country, so if it's just for that keep up the boycott.

Yeah, as I said I currently access the server via FTP. I was just hoping there would be a better way to do it, because, while working, this isn't as reliable as I'd like it to be.

I guess I didn't really phrase myself correctly. I found a bunch of stuff but nothing that really helps. Most of the threads were either ancient or not related to my use case. I found one promising utility (djmount) but it was last updated like 2005 and I had no luck getting it to run on my pc.

That being said, I didn't think of searching for service discovery protocols

Yeah, I found it too at one point. Ancient is an understatement lol. I gave up trying to make it work after a few hours. It's honestly crazy that nobody has made another utility like it

Here's my situation. I have an Asus router that allows me to connect an external drive to it and then it can function as a UPnP media server. Back when I was on Windows It worked perfectly. It always sat in the sidebar of the file explorer and I could just drag and drop files to and from it, download stuff directly onto it or play movies just by double clicking them

I moved to a Fedora-based distro (Nobara) a few months ago and have been unable to access the server the same way. I know it works, because if I open VLC I can access it under "Universal Plug'n'Play" and see my movies, but for the life of me I can't get it to show up in Dolphin or any other file explorer I've tried. I've resorted to turning on FTP on the router and mounting the drive with rclone, which somewhat works for my use case, but it's slow and occasionally just refuses to connect because sessions don't seem to get closed properly and I get a "Too many connections" error.

My google-fu appears to have failed me, because I have genuinely found nothing, besides just using Kodi or VLC. I also found a few threats from like a decade ago complaining about the UPnP support on KDE, but I would have expected things to have improved since then. Is what I'm trying to achieve here just not possible?

Courage the Cowardly Dog. I know it's a kids' show, but I was terrified of entering the basement for months after seeing the episode with the floating white head

Really glad to hear that. I've been using a Fairphone 5 for about 2 years now and while it's certainly not on the level of a flagship I can't say I miss anything. Sure, a better camera or faster processor would be nice to have, but both get the job done and are certainly not necessary for the average user. Samsung and Apple would have us believe that we all need a DLSR camera strapped to a supercomputer in our pocket in order to swipe on Instagram and take the occasional selfie. I'd gladly trade that in to make the world a tiny bit better by not supporting slavery and not wasting resources.

I've been hitting the gym 3 times a week for about two years now and seen pretty good results. Well, life happened and I can't really find the time for that anymore, so I'm trying to adapt my routine for twice a week. Was wondering if anybody has an opinion on it.

For most of my fitness journey I've been doing GZCLP with variation exercises for tier 2 and the rep range for tier 1 modified to 3x5, then 3x4, then 3x3, because who even has the time to do 10 sets of 1 rep? Now that I will only be going to the gym twice a week my genius idea is the smash the 4 GZCLP days into 2, while following a similar progression scheme to the original. Something like this:

Day 1:

  • T1 Barbell squat
  • T1 Overhead press
  • T2 Romanian deadlift
  • T2 Incline dumbbell bench press
  • T3 Lat pulldown

Day 2:

  • T1 Deadlift
  • T1 Barbell bench press
  • T2 Split squats
  • T2 Dumbbell shoulder press
  • T3 Lat pulldown

So far I've done one week of this and feeling ok. I tried to superset the T2 lifts, but the general fatigue is getting a bit too much that way so I'll probably stop. Any thoughts on what I can change or do you guys think this is a balanced enough workout?

That depends on where you are. In most of the world cars need both plates, but I know at least some US states are ok with only a rear plate.

Zeppelin Atlantic Automatic. Might be a bit big for my wrist, but I love it. This is my first automatic, and knowing some of the prices hopefully my last too lol.

Driver San Francisco kinda. You spend most of the game in a coma, but you do wake up and do some real stuff for the ending.

Depending on your definition of nothing happens, Mad Max too. At the start of the game Max loses his car, meets this car fanatic and for the entire game he helps you build the "Magnum Opus", the most badass car the wasteland has seen. At the end, you lose your Magnum Opus, he gets killed, and you get your original car back. You have a big impact on other people throughout the story, but as far as the protagonist is concerned, he is pretty much exactly where he started.

That's not always the case. Some games stream in assets as you play so you might get bad pop-in or freezes. Forza Horizon 5 was nearly unplayable on an HDD for me, because the map couldn't load in fast enough while driving quickly. No issues after reinstalling it on an SSD.

A few months ago I was wondering what to get my girlfriend for her birthday. Her favourite animal is the guinea fowl, so when I saw a pattern for one, I decided I will learn to crochet and make her a guinea fowl plushie.

Well, after a lot of youtube tutorials, a few small and one medium-sized project, last week I decided it's time and started working on the bird.

Took me a few days of on and off crocheting, but I just finished and OMG, I love it!

It's certainly not perfect, the seams around the neck are absolutely tragic, but overall, I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Yesterday I was doing overhead press for 3x8 at 30 kilos. I felt a slight pain/tightness towards the back left side of my neck and today it's quite a bit worse. Nothing unbearable, but I can't tilt my head to the back left. I don't think I'm ego lifting but this has happened once before. Any tips for a faster recovery and what I can do to prevent it in the future?

Also, weirdly enough the pain is on the left side and it hurts when I tilt my head left, so when that muscle contracts. I would have expected it to hurt when stretched, no?

So, a few months ago I ran into a pothole and got a bubble on my tyre. It was almost time to switch to winter tyres so I kept driving for a few more weeks with no issues, put winters on and that was that. Today I went to get the summers installed and replace the one with the bubble and the mechanic pointed out that I also bent the rim on that pothole. I hadn't noticed the damage, nor any vibrations and it's still holding air perfectly. It's now mounted in the rear, where it will hopefully be under less stress (I drive a Yaris). I can get a new wheel, but not for the next few weeks and I do need to drive in the meantime, so my question is, should I bother getting this wheel repaired? The damage doesn't seem big and from what I've heard straightening aluminium wheels sometimes leads to cracks, which will just make the situation worse than it already is. I'd rather have a wheel that's probably usable than one that definitely isn't.

Edit: I should point out, the winter tyres are on a different set of rims. I've only driven on this wheel for about 2 weeks, from when I hit the pothole until I had the winter tyres installed. Today I had it put back on the car and the mechanic pointed out the damage to me.

For context, I drive a Toyota Yaris on 17 inch wheels. I hit a pothole and got a bubble on my front right tire (the pain of running low profile tires). Anyway, I bough these tires something like 6 months ago and only have 5000-ish kilometers on them. The other 3 still look in perfect condition. I know it's normally recommended to replace tires in pairs, but is that really needed here considering how new the set is? Feels stupid to replace a tire that is practically new.
