I may be naive here, but doesn’t opensnitch already do this at the process level as well?

Very cool! Do you know how your project may compare with arctic shift ? For those more interested in research with reddit data, is there benefit of one vs another?

from what I remember from my early psych class, manipulation can be used, but should be used carefully in an experiment.

there’s a lot that goes into designing a research experiment that tests or requires the use of manipulation, as appropriate approvals and ethics reviews are needed.

and usually it should be done in a “controlled” environment where there’s some manner of consent and compensation.

I have not read the details done here but the research does not seem to happen in a controlled env, participants had no way to express consent to opt in or opt out, and afaik they were not compensated.

any psych or social sci peeps, feel free to jump in to correct me if I say something wrong.

on a side note, another thing that this meme suggests is that both of these situations are somehow equal. IMO, they are not. researchers and academics should be expected to uphold code of ethics more so than corporations.

lol how did u do that?

Particularly zombie apocalypse, but also more generally as well. Many seem to be about post-apocalypse, but the chaos and confusion at the beginning seems like such a fruitful idea. Yet that’s so rarely done/done well as far as I know for zombie movie/shows, except for shows like Dead Set UK. Is it because of the budget, or that such shows/movies cannot be milked forever like TWD?

holy crap this episode is so wild!

I don’t and never intend to use iCloud. I have everything turned off in “Apps using iCloud”. But once in a while, I have to go to that to inspect, because sometimes a random app would be turned on.

(1) What does it mean to have an app turned on? I tried to log in to my iCloud account and could never figure out where those apps might be stored.

(2) Is there a way to turn it off completely? So I don’t have to always check like a hawk.

Note: version of this is also posted in iPhone@lemmy.ml, I have no idea how to crosspost on memmy. Sorry
