What about using Russian services? they suck but that's how I kept in touch with people there

and while we are at it let's use something more modern & scalable like Kaspa (or whatever other cooler thing)

It could be just my biased view/experience.

I worked for a chinese startup in Beijing and we barely employed git or reviews, massive projects had 0 tests, we put 0 thoughts on architecture, just stop when it works.

I joined an established European company after that and the difference was huge, I had to relearn everything, proper code reviews, follow best practices, you don't stop when it works, you stop when it works, it's well tested (extensive business tests plus at least one required integration test for every change you make), iterated over the architecture a few times to have something simple to understand and clean.

I was also a contractor for another very new European startup where the process was not as robust but still better than the first one.

oh shit, I thought it's per year initially, I am considered a senior dev in a lot of setups (8yoe), worked remotely for European companies (hence European standards on code quality), hold PhD yet my monthly salary didn't cross 4k yet, you can hire an army of me with this.

I have been using self hosted Gitea for a while now (few years) with 0 regrets.

yes, race, sex, ... because in some countries men can't access women stuff online and women can't access men stuff, there is some good pushback and this looser was shown the door in a few places like the freedesktop gitlab and Ubuntu repos. Such a fucking looser.

Like its not even enforceable

Why bother then?

The author of the PR explicitly says IT IS TO COMPLY WITH THE NEW TRACKING LAW (LOBBIED BY FACEBOOK/META).

Lovely!

I wanted to fork too but wanted a more carefully planned one (avoid reverting the new time utility names in case they will be re-used in the future & to make syncing newer changes from upstream straightforward otherwise it will not be a one-to-one replacement)

I would love to help with your fork, allocate a worker to build a binary from the CI, create an AUR package (I already studied the systemd arch package a little bit), start using the fork and hopefully with some PRs too. Discord is blocked where I am so it would be cool to have a matrix group / space for this effort and let's see how far we can push this. Because if this doesn't work, I will be moving to Artix or Gentoo 100%
