They should try not sucking. Not spying on their users. Maybe let me tell the OS what I want it to do and not have to do whatever it feels like in any given scenario.

Well that person or team did a fucking good job.

This may be a slightly off topic rant…

My wife has been watching Mad Men and I’ll watch it too if I’m in the room. One thing that continues to strike me over and over is how satisfying all the switches and car doors and buttons are. There is a scene is season two where Draper sits at his desk at home and switches on a lamp. The sound it makes and the amount of travel his finger has while punching in the switch is so satisfying. A real ca-chunk.

Every time some closes a car door or hangs up a phone the sound and the look of it is so… just satisfying. It reminds me of when I replaced all the devices in a home I used to own. I used 20amp motor rated switches on all the lights switches because I just love the hard tactile feel and sound they make. Like when that switch closes, you KNOW it’s closed. You don’t need to guess.

Everything is a god damn touch screen now. I miss buttons. Anyway, this is why I like mechanical keyboards.

Radeon, if you want to have a moment…

I’ll understand it when it goes on sale on steam for $0.99. For sure.

I predict that this bubble has a lot more runway than you want it to have. It will continue to grow for years.

I thought you had to lay bark facing out.

Thanks, I’ll give this a look.

I actually played the west end DC game in college in ‘04. I remember it being crazy good at the time.

I’ll look into this one. What is the rest of the outgunned rule set like?

[–] iconic_admin@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago

I’ve heard that champions was really deep rules wise. How true is that? Like it’s too deep so it’s hard to onboard new players.

Be hard for it to stay on with no power cord/battery…

Howdy. So I’ve been running a 5e D&D game live at a table and another one on foundry. Both groups kind of collapsed over the holidays and that’s fine. I want to try a super hero RPG. I’ve been looking at Masks but it seems kind of teen focused which I’m not into. Does anyone know if this system is more adaptable than I’m giving it credit or if there is a better system they could recommend?

I’ve had good luck with it. I really like it. One thing I would say is that I use forge for hosting the server and I lock my add-ons and foundry version in for the duration of the campaign to cut down on non-sense.

Just my opinion. But foundry seems like the Linux of VTTs, if you like to tinker with things and like troubleshooting wonky issues, you will get more mileage out of it.

So I need some recommendations. I have two 75% boards with gatearon reds and cherry mx blues. I really like these keyboards, but they are obviously not quiet. My issue arises because my desk shares a wall with my daughter’s bedroom, so while she is napping or asleep I am stuck using a Logitech G213. The G213 is much quieter but not as fun.

So my humble request is this: can anyone recommend a 100% (or any percent that has all the keys in smaller form factor) that is as close to absolutely silent as possible? I would prefer a good tactile feel but it’s not required and I’m looking into magnetic switches because those look cool too. I like that you can program them to behave like analog inputs. Also I’m on Ubuntu Linux (fuck you Microsoft) if that is important.

Thanks in advance if you have any ideas for me.

I bet this question gets asked a lot. I have been DMing an in person group for a couple months now. My first game back since around 2008 or so and I'm hooked again. The downside is that we're all parents and scheduling is a nightmare (per the norm). We are only meeting once a month or less.

So I want to look into running another game online. I tried roll20 with a one shot that I wrote for the purpose and being that it was my first time using the platform it just kind of got in the way. I want to pick one platform (roll20, Foundry VTT, or whatever) and really do a deep dive to learn it so I can run an online game with a steady group. Setting up the self hosting of Foundry is no problem for me but I've read that players can find it confusing to use. I want players and myself to be able to manipulate the platform as seamlessly as possible.

Before I keep rambling on forever, what in your opinion is the easiest VTT to run and to play? I would like perspective from players and from DMs.
