I always try to leave a comment in support when this happens.

As much of a win as this is, I wish they'd show half as much support for the rest of the rights we're guaranteed by the Constitution.

I just bought a 4k tv for the first time, and I want to use my old Inspiron 5577 with a GTX 1050 as a media PC for it.

But, the laptop defaults to the igpu, which only gives me a max of 24 (laggy) fps at 4k, and I can't figure out any way to make the laptop use the dgpu instead. I can run individual programs with the dgpu, but not the screen itself.

I've tried the Nvidia settings, and I've also tried "sudo prime-select nvidia", which completes and then doesn't do anything when I reboot.

I've checked, and my bios doesn't have an option to run the dgpu only.

I've also tried KDE Neon to see if it was just Cinnamon, but I got the same issue on KDE.

Am I just SOL? I really don't want to have to buy a new media PC when I literally have a graphics card in my laptop that can do exactly what I want already.

Edit: Yup, looks like I'm fucked, lol. Seems like the igpu is directly wired to the hdmi port with no dpgu passthrough. Maybe I can snag a Windows 10 PC for cheap.

Like most worker cooperatives, it probably wouldn't last a year.

Bleeding hearts always clot surprisingly fast when it comes to those they don't like.

According to my mathematician wife, "it's got the same problem most paradoxes do in that it's self-referential".

The post in question, if interested:

Also, I don't know how to see which mod/admin banned me, so if you know how to in the modlog, definitely let me know.

Banned for 7 days, so I'm not super mad or anything - I just thought it was funny.

Honestly I don't blame them - I'd be embarrassed about people finding out my community was on .ml too.

The comment in question:

"To everyone arriving here from /all, remember that this is a .ml community when you attempt to engage in good faith."

Edit: Sorry for the double post - I just got back after being gone all day and didn't realize someone else had made a post about my comment! There's a bit of discussion here so I was going to leave it, but if the mods would rather delete it, feel free!
