Higurashi When They Cry is the first thing that comes to mind for me when I think of summer heat, nights and screaming cicadas

FMA2003 as well. I love that we got two very different worlds from that manga.

Brotherhood had a better ending, but the original did more interesting things with the homunculi.

Feeds are validating now. Thanks for fixing it!

The feeds are currently set to check once every 100 minutes (Thunderbird's default setting). Is there a recommended frequency I should be switching to?

My RSS reader, Thunderbird, is suddenly throwing errors on all my ani.social feeds (communities, inbox). Trying to verify the URLs through the feed subscriptions window I get a "The Feed URL is not authorized." message.

Looking at the error log, it's complaining about not well formed XML and clicking on the link results in an attempt to complete a Cloudflare "Verify you are human" challenge.

I'm not getting these issues on any other instances. RSS getting blocked like this is the reason I left Reddit for Lemmy in the first place.

I use RSSHub to generate feeds for my subscriptions, then use this trick on Thunderbird to open video links directly with yt-dlp.

I use LocalSend to move the videos (and other files) to VLC.

VLC player

I have a system involving multiple devices. I download the videos with yt-dlp on my computer, then send them to my phone for mobile watching.

Yep. The community pages all provide RSS feeds and Mastodon has them as well.

It's so nice using it as an all-in-one newsfeed aggregated with everything else.

Thunderbird fails the check. I can't access communities through my RSS reader.
