Good for you! Life is too short to read disappointing stories, there are way too many other good ones out there waiting for you.

Have you read any Murderbot? All Systems Red got me hooked (Martha Wells)

I was hoping someone would mention this!! I absolutely love anything in the Nine Worlds! Not all of which is necessarily calming - Jemis, I’m looking at you 👀

Nah, there are so many better options out there than Harry Potter. Life is too short to read antisemitism.

Have you read The Gilded Ones, by Namina Forna? It’s the first book in a great series, and it kicks the shit out of Harry Potter.

The Sisters Avramapul series by Victoria Goddard is another one (along with everything else in her Nine Worlds universe)

Or the Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T J Klune

Derring-do For Beginners by Victoria Goddard

Edited for a word and to add another rec

Keanu is Canadian. But still, he’s a goddamn national treasure

There was no initial explanation as to why the shell ended up in the man’s body, but local media speculated that it might have had something to do with his social life.

😂😂

While I’m a bit skeptical about your memories of learning to crawl, I’ll accept those pre-speaking memories, because I have those too. My two earliest memories I wasn’t speaking real words yet, just babbling, and I remember the frustration; both with being understood as well as with anyone actually trying to figure out what the hell I was saying. I remember it was especially frustrating as I could understand others around me, I just couldn’t be understood myself.

I also remember how big I was; in the one memory I was standing beside a chair, and it was the perfect height for me to lay my head down in the seat while standing up. So, standing but not yet talking. That would put me in the range of 10-14 months old, give or take

My 90yo grandmother tells me stories of her childhood all the time. Her earliest memories are of when she was around 2-3yo, and she absolutely hasn’t lost her sense of self at all. She’s sharp as a tack, honestly. I think it just really depends on the person

Obligatory not-my-cat. This is Holly, the new smol. She’s eating the stick end of a feather toy. I’m told it’s the tastiest part.
