I'm a millennial and I raised my kids how I was raised. My son got his first electronic device at age 13. He does not stop using his phone ever. It is insane. First thing in the morning he grabs it off the charger and will be buried in it all day long doing nothing at all besides looking at his phone. All he does is watch videos on Spotify....it's fucking crazy. Then I set a time limit on his phone. So after his time limit is up he just texts and calls random people. That shit is not normal and to me I won't understand it. Ever.

I wonder if it would be feasible to crowd source mortgages. in c/showerthoughts@lemmy.world

I was a teenager when Napster launched. I remember doing a lot of Metallica. And then even more Metallica when they complained about it. And then even MORE when the flash cartoons came out for "Napster bad. Money goooooood"

I don't know exactly what it was first. It was music obviously...but I remember just spending hours downloading stuff, a lot of humor songs too like the kicked my dog, Donald duck blow job, sesamea street etc.

I got myself a seestar s50 and this was the first thing I took with it where something showed up lol. I'm still learning how to use this thing though but overall I'm happy so far. Even though the s30 pro got announced like 2 minutes after it hit the buy button haha.

Genuine question. Seemed to be super hyped and now I don't hear much about it. Steam charts have 300k as highest player count but now it's around 60-80k players.

Okay so recently on of course social media (tiktok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram etc) people have been spewing boner misinformation about this console. Before you down vote me to oblivion l hear me out. Yes. The console has a 120hz refresh rate... But people are saying this console is outputting 4k resolution at 120fps docked...... 120fps isn't even an option docked (tested on LTT) and not only that, only a very very small amount of games will be 120fps. Cyberpunk runs at 30fps, or 40 on performance. But people are saying it runs 60fps at 4k!? Why? Why would people just blatantly lie about this information when you can get it actually tested?

Game prices? I understand the Nintendo cult is always stiff. But for the last 10 years these people bitched about $70 games. And now they are just throwing excuse after excuse defending $80 games now. But the lie I've been hearing is "Sony has been selling $80 games since the PS5 came out" No... No it hasn't. There is not one base PS5 game for $80 ever made.

So.. why are people saying this stuff? It's weird.

Anyways. I can tell this console will be a monster in 1-2 years before the $600 OLED model drops. I'm bummed Nintendo kind of fucked the market for consumers. Now every dev will start games at $80 and no one will blame Nintendo for it in the future. (Like if Ubisoft release the division 3 for $80 people will just blame Ubisoft). Don't forget who started the price hikes (not inflation)

Many moons ago I got perma banned like many other lemmings. Before that happened I found myself doom scrolling reddit, constantly arguing with people over my opinions and what I enjoy and being trolled. I overall enjoyed reddit though, and was a member for over 10 years. But after the ban and being forced to stop injust realized how shitty online communities are. I don't spend much time on Lemmy like I did reddit. And I can rechose the communities I want to be in. This also led me to stay off of TikTok and Instagram more and just... Chill.

So thank you reddit, without being banned I would have an unhealthy phone lifestyle still.
