I keep buying motorolas because they're rugged as fuck. I get a new one every 3-5 years. They're all the same-ish these days, and rarely come with any sort of incentive or discount, so it doesn't make sense to refesh too often. I try to get my money's worth from my devices.

Can't tell you how many samsungs my kids have broken, but both of their motos still work.

Every single one of my machines is set up to run metric so I don't have to constantly convert 64's and 8's and thou's fractional units between denominators, which is exactly why I'd rather type .0254mm than 1/1000. I absolutely cannot stand using different fractional denominators or that a foot is divided by 12, but everything else isn't. You've probably used it for years and are used to it, but approaching it with a rational mind seems like unnecessary work and risk of miscalculation.

Every number I use can easily be interchanged for another unit.

I really want everyone to use the metric system. Imperial is just awful to use for most design and machine purposes.

  1. I'd fit right in in more ways than one.

I need to go squatchin' with Mulder

This. NTFS is still the gold standard for stability. ReFS is meant for data ops, and while it's fairly stable, and offers a lot of advantages, it's not perfect and can suffer greatly if used incorrectly. Until the quirks are gone, users are probably better off with NTFS for a lot of reasons.

Since when does the pentagon tell everyone their plans before doing them

oh right, never

My kids used to call the play place with all of the inflatable bounce houses "the bouncy store".

My eldest couldn't remember the name for bagpipes and called them "autotuned hornbags" which is one of my favorites, and I still use it.

In relation to mario kart, we had no idea what the superhorn was called, we always called in "The Honkerbanger". Likewise we didn't understand what the drafting sprites were in MK on the wii, it looked like the person in front of you was sweating big droplets of water. We'd say we were "getting sweat".

On a similar note I'll mention Dendrocnide moroides better known as the gympie gympie tree.

The Infosphere has been down for at least a few days now.. does anyone know what happened to it?

I designed the case and the custom NASA glyphs for POS caps, so it has a completely flat console-like feel. It's Stocked with ChosFox Arctic Fox clickies (box whites on crack). I rewrote the firmware (didn't like the stock one) and added VIAL support as well as some different color modes. Also handmade the interconnect.

I loved the formfactor of the Sofle RBG, so I basically polished it up. I have 3 sets of these and a few spare boards just in case.

My case design is published here, for free, for anyone who wants it :)
