Aside from purely theoretical, philosophical interest (suuuure), it doesn't really matter, does it?

"Ah yes, now that you showed us the opinion of these online strangers on your phone, we will be ok angering your father - the man who famously hires ex-legionnaires for protection of his family - for a little hanky panky."

But that's really sad, if you think about it.

"Generally in the USA, it's considered suspicious."

That means generally, Americans are unaware of these father-child activities.

That means generally, Americans didn't have a good father.

Now, a lot of people would intuitively jump to "Nah my dad was ok" - but if this isn't normal behaviour for you, then you're just unaware of how bad your whole frame of reference is. That is a tough pill to swallow, though.

It certainly looks like lynching; it's giving USA

Yeah it's not like it's 14 years old or something like that!

I think that's a slight pun.

The "-archy" part comes from the greek for "to rule/command". Monarchy = rule by a king, oligarchy = rule by few, etc.

And the "an-" part means "not" or "without". So anarchy technically means "not ruled" or "without rule" - but if things are still being ruled, it would still be an "archy", not a "not archy".

I think you have missed the mark with this. It doesn't make sense logically, and seems more like an emotional (understandably so) response.

I'm not sure that's true.

Let's realistically entertain your point: You say he should sell his assets to get money, so he can give it to the poor, basically (correct me if I'm wrong).

The yacht and other stuff, probably bought with a loan, insured by Steam's value. His real assets is, like, Steam.

I don't know if you already see where this is going, but from clarity: If people would buy parts of that - the parts are called "shares", and the people who buy them "shareholders". That is a public company. Which now has a LEGAL OBLIGATION to make as much money as possible. Meaning all that enshittification coming along with it eventually, too.

The chance that they agreed on that and she wouldn't mention it is slim, though

Yeah recently had this happen in the. Net world for some projects: They went from free to commercial or some other reason, and then people quickly forked the last version before that. All with that idea that they're the defenders of what was good about it.

But let's face it, if you had anywhere near the interest and commitment to that subject matter, you'd already be maintaining a competing project, or be helping at the original one.

I think people are enticed by the glory of having a repo with many stars, but have no realistic idea how much of their time this would eat up if they were serious about it.

Well, there ARE torpedoes that pretend to be a ship in order to trick ships and other torpedoes to go for them, instead of the submarine that fired it.

But yeah "specifically" designed to sink ships sounds weird when that's what most of them, with only few exceptions, do.

If I ask for a burger and you give me a good fake meat patty, I'm happy.

If I ask for a burger and you give me a mushroom sandwich or bruschetta or anything like that, I will check for signs of stroke in both of us
