I'm convinced that Chiles and Tim Dowling have some kind of blackmail on the owners of The Guardian. It just makes no sense otherwise.

I've seen the conflation here on Lemmy too.

Yes, it absolutely was a thing and I think in some places may still be a thing (or recommended by older generations)

Is this video sped up? Its really uncanny in a way that's making it difficult to pay attention to what she is saying (which is important!).

Looking for an active vegan recipe community, as the vegan recipe communities I'm finding are all pretty much dead, and the active vegan communities are more news focused.

Thanks!

The Spider's only true question is whether to go on

Oof. Missed this. Thanks, good to know!

If you're talking about easily available running shoes, there are still select New Balances that are union made in the US (as of a couple of years ago).

If you're looking for just sneakers, there are a ton made in Europe you can get shipped to north america! I have Vegas at the moment

I did mean itch.io, but that's alright - the ambiguity was my fault and I'm not completely set on itch.io.

Mobile not necessary. Thanks so much!

Hey all, Sorry if this is not a great magazine to post this. I'm looking for a nice cozy game (for a non-gamer!) to play for about an hour or so a day instead of doomscrolling. I like the idea of a game where I can make slow progress, though I don't tend to like the traditional RPG style. But something like a slow moving simulator or whatever could be great (for example, I really enjoy MiniMetro on mobile). Thoughts?

Hey! I'm in this picture!

@Linktank@lemmy.today I assume you are right, I think the photos are from an experiment from the 50s or 60s.

Ok, unlike the other commenter, you are engaging and this is a fair point. I don't know enough about the Nepal and South Korea case to assess how fast it took: Yes, it looked like a week to international observers who aren't reading the Nepal Daily or whatever, but I'd want to here from people on the ground about how much or how little lead up and organization there was leading up to the tipping points.

But that's not disagreeing with you - just saying I genuinely don't know if you're right or not, but I do appreciate the comparisons.

The Epstein case has a lot of evidence supporting a conspiracy, and I certainly think there is more to it than we know. But in recent days I've seen upvoted comments about (a) the NYC shooter not actually targeting the NFL despite all reporting suggesting otherwise, and (b) that Russia intentionally caused the Earthquake.

I think given the self-selective nature of a federated social network we already need to be vigilant about preventing any kind of 4chanification. I'm not calling for censorship of any kind, but I do find it raises some beige flags for me about Lemmy...
