I like community builders and games that I can keep a world for years and grow, watch it evolve. I enjoy Rimworld. ARK evolved series is good.

Bonus if it's multiplayer capable LAN and not online.

Oxygen not included is nice but mentally taxing sometimes. I prefer laid back chill games with economy and farming. 2d or 3d doesn't matter. I don't mind trying indie games. Survival based games are nice. I'm not super pick and choose.

Give me your greatest joy in game form. I've heard Stardew Valley is good. I tried it, reminds me of a gameboy game. I could not get into the game. My character kept falling asleep like 14 times in a day.

What does this mean sprinkle dirt or other? What items.

Chicken looks great! Nice brown carmelization.

I do these. I replace phone parts, tablets, and various devices. It's not complicated and you don't need a heat gun. You can use a hair dryer and if that's too much. A heating pad turned on high for about 15 minutes sometimes not even that long. A guitar pick ot similar. Go slow. Cheap 15 dollar or less phone kit with a suction cup helps.

Mensinator is also FOSS! Easy convenient IU super fast. Drip is slower more UI clunky.

How could they load software on the phone? They could use stingray systems possibly or any man in the middle but what if your network traffic is behind a vpn, what if your device is secured. I doubt they can simply CONTROL your device and how it operates from a distance reliably and en mass.

Not buying it.

VeraCrypt solves this issue. I leave my main OS unencrypted then simply store veracrypt partitions to the size I need and put files inside that as needed. I've dealt with resizing luks partitions and its not worth it. Especially if you build, maintain, or otherwise tinker with you system.

The autofill prompt in browsers like librewolf. Or should you save passwords with a manager? I like the aspect of autofilling passwords and certain data.

Seriously every other post, every sub seems like nothing but politics. It's so boring and disgusting. What made reddit great at one time was the diversity of genres and depth. Lemmy is very shallow and politically motivated it seems. I have been here since the Reddit exodus. It's always been this way.

Do different Lemmy servers have different content?

Are certain severs curated?

Where do I find the depth and deep subject matter.

I want to go curved ideally. I really like the LG 45 inch models the oleds their 240hz. I can shop online or local. I think larger is better but I also cannot afford something outrageous . I won't post a budget as I'm very deal focused and can make moves to get the right purchase. I won't spend over 1000 USD and I will likely score the item half price or hunt until I get a unicorn deal.

For reference I've gamed on 60hz TV my entire life. Now I game on a 86inch tv at 120hz input lag is awful, the screen is awesome but generally it's 4k 60 turned down to 1080p 120hz. But I'm looking to up my refresh and response time to something good for battlefield 6.

I have never gamed outside of 1080p. I have no real idea other than to get an OLED and atleast 240hz prefer higher.

Any recommendations or advice? Sorry English is not my best.

I have tested a lot of atomic and traditional distributions lately. Tons of desktop environments strictly for fun and branching out. Having a 1 2 3 backup strategy and not just having it in place, but being able to restore your backup in a timely manner to keep continuity is paramount. You can list infinite reasons why.

Why do atomic distros which are supposed to me more stable, superior to some degree immutable environments lack good backup options? You can hack things together and there are somewhat installable tools. Like timeshift or etc etc. But it seems they place a lot more emphasis on rolling back poor updates in the event than total system backups.

By default it you should have true backups then layer in rollbacks. Not the other way around. Am I missing something?

As a normal person with ADHD but otherwise neurotypical, I have a hard time communicating and functioning with my partner.

How do I better deal with the communication issues and honestly she entirely lacks a way to talk, express feelings, be deeper than basic interactions.

My new girlfriend is on the spectrum not high up and at first glance functions fairly normal to onlookers.

But privately and when being close or open its like she says she has a social battery but its always drained according to her, she doesn't sleep good. Has depression and horrible anxiety. She feels scared to make moves intimately but wants to, whether it's kissing, sexual, or in general even hand holding.

But she deals with major issues of over stimulation like talking or touching when emotions get higher or more complex she defaults to blocking people out and going into herself.

Overwhelming emotions all the time that she cannot explain or process no matter how much she tries writing to me, to be alone and think about them so we can properly discuss, the only answer she comes to is IDK. It's like she can't explain emotions and feelings almost at all. Which makes any understanding or functioning insanely difficult borderline impossible due to the one way nature my input and none of her output. She struggles to explain basic thoughts and doesn't like trying or will attempt to try and get frustrated and upset or scared to try entirely. Which further increases the overwhelming feelings and discomfort. It leaves a void for us. She wants nothing but to do better and grow together but feels trapped in her autism cycle. I know it cannot be changed but I can certainly improve on how to process the situation and do better on my part.

How/what can we introduce methods to better communicate? (we tried writing letters and texting but she can't explain things and gets confused/frustrated/upset so that is out)

What systems can we introduce and methods we can try improve these feelings?

What are some of your best advices and methods for a normal person to be educated and productive when dealing with an autistic person? So I can be a better partner too.

I am struggling to understand, communicate, and find ways to function cohesively together because for me it's like... why can't you try to explain things so we can improve but it always lands into a negative set of emotions. Where she feels sad, cries, gets mad, blames me, depression, anxiety, she's constantly never ending overwhelmed.

I greatly appreciate the help. I will have open discussions with each of you as needed. Thanks for taking the time to help a normie out!

Edit: Perhaps that was way over stated. All our interactions are not negative but for the sake of the post I was focusing on those aspects to find tools to improve myself and her ability to communicate more effectively.

In no way shape or form are our interactions as basic as that sounded. We function almost entirely normal. Do normal activities, go places, hangout, work and hobbies. When I meant basic interaction I don't mean she sits on bench and cannot function. I just meant anything outside of typical day to day like intricate displays of emotion or communication about our relationship issues is where the wall hits. Its not trust. Or as dead sounding as that seemed. Its that she lacks ways to articulate her emotions and what to say. Has issues processing.

I was looking at for tools like the emotion wheel. Similar methods. Not a psychological breakdown of her and I.

I have been tossing around the idea of a little distro hopping. I'm an avid mint fan. It was my first jump from windows. I became quite familiar with mint but felt the want to branch out and went down the rabbit hole (oh my lanta). I like stability and cleanliness. Security by default. Least mental load possible long-term.

I'm currently testing out NIXos. Next will be VanillaOS, 3rd will be Fedora Silverblue. Anyone have good recommendations? Easy backups, stability, security first posture, least maintenance and memory load. I hate getting scattered in symlinks, scripts, and filesystem placing.

I've tried going full custom Linux mint. But app armour and Firejail constantly conflict or require manual updating and tweaking to keep up to date with app installs, or general life cycle updates.

The most intriguing aspect if NIXos was that basically the entire configurable system was confined to two files. Infinitely reproducable. I tend to swap laptops or hardware relatively often being on the go or getting good tech deals. Having your entire system in two files essentially is awesome.

What are some pros and cons of different distros? What do you daily drive as a power user? Give me your thoughts and recommendations! Thanks.

The tool Lynis is an auditing tool used to audit Unix systems. Is it still relevant? Worth using?

It used to be fairly widely used years ago. Is it still worth its salt or are there other better options? Do you guys think it's needed at all with common sense now days.

The question is simple. I wanted to get a general consensus on if people actually audit the code that they use from FOSS or open source software or apps.

Do you blindly trust the FOSS community? I am trying to get a rough idea here. Sometimes audit the code? Only on mission critical apps? Not at all?

Let's hear it!
