Yeah, that would make sense!
I love the concept, but could anyone explain to me what the point of a physical robot hand is?
I understand that the children can't yet read text so they need to see sign language, but what is the point of a physical hand and not a recording of a hand or a CGI hand?
A hand on the screen would:
- be silent
- need no specialized HW
- be cheaper
I can see the novelty of a physical robot hand, but if the point is to help as many children as possible, I don't see why this is the better option.
Does anyone have more insight into this?
I think you could just store the signatures centrally for validity, no need to store the whole models.
If a task/chore can be done in 2 minutes or less, do it now.
Not sure if it is the best, but it is a simple piece of advice I follow religiously. I think the reason this makes sense is that the cognitive load of trying to remember to do it is higher than just doing it straight away.

Hmm, if you ignore the esoteric versions of existing programming languages I can think of one place where this is done in the wild. That is if you consider Excel formulas to be a sort of programming language ;)
The pain you have to go through when looking for help only in the local language, then giving up and trying to figure out which functions are which in English. Then switching it all to English, then having people ask you for help when they have it in the local language. That is one reason I can think of to not localize a programming language :)
I can't imagine what that is like, but I am very grateful for you sharing. I have only ever had a couple of surgeries and knowing the pain would end was what I was grasping at the entire time.
I am wondering if I ever meet a person suffering with chronic pain, what can I do to help them? Supporting them through their treatment is definitely a good idea. Being compassionate is a good idea on the surface, but I am not sure if I would be even capable of doing that when I have no idea what it is really like. Is it about understanding their suffering and accepting that their actions are effected by it?
When I try to think of things to say to them, I think of what I say to people who are suffering like "I hope you feel better." and it just sounds insensitive.
