I was messing around with duck.ai because it doesn't need an account and I like to see how censored western AIs are. Specifically around the Iran war.

I was going to ask it to read Aljazeera to get their coverage of the war and then compare what it summarizes to the same thing from other news sites. To see if it changes what it says based on which news org I have it pull the info from. But then I ran into an interesting hiccup.

I tried this with multiple models and as soon as you specify to search for Aljazeera + specific news event it will get a 404 error. And the same for CNN.

I thought this might be the sites themselves blocking AI crawlers. So I tried it in deepseek. It had no issue pulling both Aljazeera and CNN. I also researched exa (the search plugin AIs use) and it does advertise a feature where you can block certain URLs from showing up.

It does seem possible to force it to see them. I was able to get it to access Aljazeera.com on the backend and read from their own documents to find articles but in the websearch tool itself there is no result coming up from either CNN or Aljazeera. Which is odd right?

I did some research. I thought maybe it had something to do with the Zionists. This smells of them. And the founder of duckduckgo does have ties to the founder of an "Israeli" tech firm (they seem to be cousins) and even said in 2013, I think, that he wanted to visit "Israel" in an interview he did with the Times of "Israel". So this might explain the Aljazeera part. It is banned in "Israel" after all. But why CNN? That's an American company. It tends to follow the state departments messaging.

I tried some more sites. Trying to think of any that might be getting blocked on purpose.

RT - not working Aljazeera - not working CNN - not working NBC - working ABC - working FOX - working QQ news - working CGTN - not working

After trying these I tried AP next. Then it told me "duckduckgo is temporarily unavailable". I refreshed. Same thing. It was acting like the site was not working. Until i changed my IP and deleted browser data. Then suddenly it worked again. Interesting huh? And AP is also not working btw.

So it blocks certain news sites, and if you keep trying to access them too often it blocks you from using the service by pretending to be offline I guess?

Would love to see if anyone can replicate this behavior. If you do it be careful not to let it trick you. What it will do is you'll ask for coverage from a specific site and it will find that site has nothing (404 error) and then it'll just make things up from other sites, and act like it did what you asked. You have to specifically tell it not to include results from any website other than the one you requested. And watch the thinking so you can see as it tries the searches and they fail.

Mike Waltz the US Envoy to the UN said:

that the US will “create alternatives to our [military] basing posture” in the Middle East by “hardening some” and possibly moving others underground. “So this leverage that Iran thinks it has now is diminishing faster and faster, literally every week as we speak,”

This is a huge admission. He tries to frame is as strength but Iran has actually made it impossible for the US to use its bases. They're being forced to start moving underground and it's going to cost them a ton of money. This also shows that the US has no intention of holding up its end of the MoU.

Citizen Vigilante starring Armie Hammer. It came out recently and I saw it on an arg yee matey site. Within the first scene it was already clear what it was. It's about some guy hunting down and killing "criminal migrants". And of course the people love him in the movie. It's like Nazi Batman I guess.

The first scene is some mom and her kid in a store and then some brown dude slits her throat for no reason and her blood spurts everywhere while the kid watches. Then it cuts to a fake newscast where they're like "more immigrants doing crimes. Luckily we have a random white male murderer here to save the day!"

I didn't watch the rest of it after I realized what it is but damn if it isn't the most Euro™ thing I've ever seen.

Idk about that. Iran has been getting bombed by the US. The US murdered hundreds of little girls there recently. The US wouldn't dare do that to the DPRK. The DPRK is also doing pretty well economically right now. At the end of the day Iran can cause the global economy massive issue, but the DPRK could nuke the US mainland. That's not even in the same wheelhouse of power.

Youtube is apparently rolling out a new change where when you share a video link it will share you profile with whoever clicks it.

Video with info on it here(CW: Reactionary/fash stuff on screen at times): https://youtu.be/oFx46sqo8O0

Everyone should be aware of this especially when sharing to something like hexbear. It can break your anonymity without you even realizing.

CW to that video for all the hitlerite bullshit

good friend of mine named Fallon N Splat recently passed away. She did so much for this country as a B-52 pilot. Ms. Splat will be missed. A true AMERICAN HERO!

He's got to be so mad. He just wants to go out there and watch motorcycle jumps and a ufc fight but his genocidal attack dog Israel just can't stop killing innocent people and messing up his big birthday bash.

“[The Israeli attack] shook it up. It delayed the signing by a few hours. It was supposed to be now. Now it is scheduled for a few hours from now,” Trump said in a phone conversation with Axios.

Trump said he was shocked when his advisers called to brief him about the Israeli strike in Beirut, and he fumed at Netanyahu.

“It is so bad – I couldn’t believe it. An hour before we are supposed to sign the deal,” Axios quoted the leader as saying. (Aljazeera)

Needed some bodywash. Noticed there was a huge hand soap refill jug for 3$. Like 3x the size of the 8$ body washes. I now smell like a dishwasher.

I already had all my music as local files and I decided to grab a rip of Mr New Vegas's voicelines from youtube. Then I cut them up and exported them as clips. Added it to my oldies playlist. I also have some of the songs with his unique intro. And things like silver rush ads, him just making random comments, etc. So when I put the playlist on shuffle in between the songs sometimes he'll pop in and say something. I also expanded the music beyond just what is in the game. Added in Elvis for example. 245 songs total but probably 30-40 of those are Mr new Vegas voice lines.

I was listening to it while driving to the store and it just happened to line up perfectly on the shuffle Mr New Vegas said "It's me again mr new vegas reminding you that your nobody until somebody loves you, and that somebody is me. I love you." Then it immediately played Love Me Tender by Elvis.

Probably the nerdiest but coolest thing I've done this year lol

I use Gnome and have for awhile. It is best used very differently from a windows style DE. If you want to see everything that is open take three fingers and swipe up on the track pad. Glance at activities, and then swipe down again to return to what you were doing. or click on something to switch tasks. I mainly use the bar at the bottom to launch applications I use a lot. It's not something I use to switch tasks.

For organization I'd reccomend using multiple desktops. You can swipe three fingers right to get to a fresh one and open things there then swipe back and forth between them easily. It's a very different experience to something like KDE and isn't for everyone.

As for extensions I'd reccomend getting: Blur My Shell AppINdicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support AlwaysShowTitlesInOverview Coverflow AltTab JustPerfection Lock screen Background Weather O'Clock

These give you a lot of customizaton options and make it look nicer imo.

If you are not a fan of the big gesture focus (it really is more like a mobile OS) then you might think about simply switching to a different DE. It's easy to install one and you can log out and switch over without reinstalling your distro. KDE is much more of a traditional desktop OS and similar to Windows. I personally love the way Gnome is but I get it isn't for everyone.

If you are concerned about this is uses Javascript so you can get noscript extension and just choose which sites are allowed to use Javascript. Sites blocked from using it WILL break though.

It's not. They're literally hacking your device to spy on you by reading EM interference and shit. It should be illegal.
