These days they don't even get to have one intact building, and you're wondering why they don't have their own fiat currency? Consider the situation there the last 50 or so years and you'll have your answer.

Spoiler alert: when you're under constant threat of bombardment and can't keep basic, life saving infrastructure running due to said bombardment, deciding on a national currency isn't high on your priority list.

How should I know? I'm not the boss of country names. I was just telling that other poster what I remembered of why people started doing it for Turkiye.

I don't remember the details now, but a few years ago, Turkiye was big in the news because something bad was happening there. Maybe some kind of humanitarian crisis or something, I really don't remember. But at that time, there was this mass consensus that seemed to come out of nowhere and everywhere at once that we should be spelling the name of the country the way the Turkish people do, and so the media and lots of people switched over to this spelling.

Indeed. One might even say that this shirt has a message that goes hard.

At this point, we've jumped all the sharks in the ocean. They're now jumping us.

For me, Sim Earth has the coolest manual. The thing was huge, maybe 200 pages and the size of a trade paperback. It was basically a primer on planetary science and was absolutely fascinating for 12 year old me to read.

Honorable mentions to to the manuals for the Warcraft RTS games and StarCraft. Those had some great backstory and lore.

Hahaha who are the two humorless clowns that down voted this? 😂

Congratulations, you've described a common human behavior that humans have been doing for all of human history. 😐

All this nonsense about this or that generation doing something incomprehensible to other generations is just distraction and noise meant to keep us attacking each other instead of coming together against the oligarchy that's been systematically grinding us down for ever increasing profits.
