I am trying to degoogle an deapple as much as possible. I am on iPhone and found Curve pay as an alternative to Apple Pay. What are the general thoughts on this? My research tells me that they are not inherently more private than Apple (or google). Is it a worthy addition to the deappling journey? Or is there no added benefit to switching from Apple Pay to curve?

I found this article interesting and only then saw the downvotes and comments. Can someone explain to me what is incorrect about this article? I am not familiar with politico, but apperently they are anti-eu and not reliable? Just wanna know the facts

I tried both magic earth and Here WeGo both work great and support Apple CarPlay. I myself am using magic earth in my car and on my (i)phone because I find it slightly better. However I still use Here wego on pc to check and plan routes, since magic earth only exists as an app.

Hi! Im new to self hosting. Currently i am running a Jellyfin server on an old laptop. I am very curious to host other things in the future like immich or other services. I see a lot of mention of a program called docker.

search this on The internet I am still Not very clear what it does.

Could someone explain this to me like im stupid? What does it do and why would I need it?

Also what are other services that might be interesting to self host in The future?

Many thanks!

EDIT: Wow! thanks for all the detailed and super quick replies! I've been reading all the comments here and am concluding that (even though I am currently running only one service) it might be interesting to start using Docker to run all (future) services seperately on the server!

Wasnt this just one message on X? Though I understand Everyone's worries. Isn’t Proton a company with a board of directors and a binding mission statement. I am sincerely wondering if the whole thing isn’t blown up too much. For me I am with proton for now and keeping my ear to the ground concerning any developments. But in short Proton is a safe and secure EU based alternative for Gmail right now, wouldn’t you agree?

Proton’s whole mission statement is based around privacy so it would take a big shift in the company to actually start registering and selling data… at least that’s my perspective. I’m curious to see if any more developments will occur concerning their CEO
