Ugh THIS. SO MUCH THIS.

I'm on Android 16 as well.

I've quickly run through my settings to see if anything relates, but nothing stood-out.

When you say 'works fine'; do you mean it just plays the video for you?

Happy New Year, friends.

Was using Boost recently (Android, sh.itjust.works) clicking the thumbnail of a post that looked like an image of video.

Next I saw (a version of) my phone's downloads folder, where the .mov video had saved.

I was a little freaked that clicking a post thumbnail caused a file to immediately get downloaded and saved on my device - no prompt or otherwise.

The post: https://sh.itjust.works/post/52568758

Can I ask if this is intentional? Or a bug with Boost? Post was setup incorrectly? Or maybe the post's target doesn't 'stream' .mov videos as-such; just sends them to be saved. But still no prompt.

If it helps; I made a post about it below, with replies from the dude who can address it (literally The Dude, heh).

(I dunno if there's a better way to link to that. Relative newbie to Lemmy etc)

No worries! Thanks for the fix, and running the instance.

I'm not sure if that, sorry. That's just my primary (?) instance, and I've seen it happen before and saw another post thinking it was the instance, too.

It might not be just the instance, since it only happens when aggregating 'all', and not local or subbed.

Bear with me. I'm a relative newbie to Lemmy & federation.

Multiple Lemmy apps serve the first 'page' of posts fine - even new posts or updates - but upon scrolling and requesting the next page, Boost gives an error message "timeout", and Blorp just doesn't load anything else (per app implementation, I know).

UPDATE: Another user mentioned that if you sort by Top instead of New/Hot/Active, infinite scroll works, and it does.

Thanks @AChiTenshi@sh.itjust.works

UPDATE 2025-12-10: only just re-tested and realized it seems to be working for me (All:Active, keep scrolling, it loads new posts/doesn't time-out).

It seems it might've been fixed a few weeks ago (per comment below), but I've been mindlessly stuck using All/Subscribed:Top* in that time so hadn't checked.

Thought it fair to update my post. Happy doom-scrolling.

Same (via Boost & Blorp for Android, last few days)

[–] GeekMan@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago

Another reply to my post says it's fixed for them, and it also is for me!

Give it a go!

G'day all. Been using Boost on Android for a while, pretty good, but the past 4-7 days, whenever I load All, it shows a page of posts, and on scrolling down it looks like it's requesting more posts, the loading bars go back and forth across the top, but no new posts load, and it finally gives a small toast popup saying "timedout".

Have tried stopping the app/restarting, restarting the phone. Also tried a different Lemmy client but I couldn't recreate the issue.

From searching, I've seen similar symptoms from a while ago, and also a post here in the last few days asking why there isn't 'infinite scroll' (assuming it's a similar issue/cause).

Sorry if I've missed a solution/update etc.

If I can test or supply anything else .... Lemmy know.

Heh.

Long anecdote short; no.

Short anecdote long; nooooo. I had a Selenocosmia Crassipes (from north-east QLD, Australia) for a year or so, and she never seemed to .. 'warm' to me.

I had to get her out in a cup regularly to change her substrate, and/or attempt to give 'pats' after a few beers, but she'd always rear-up to strike :/ But I was her cricket and pinky-mouse dealer!

I didn't research it. I don't have studies to cite. I didn't approach it constructively.

I just hoped one day we'd click, before going on adventures together.

I miss Fluffy.
