I'd look into a vintage adjustable Gillette Slim or Gillette Fatboy on eBay. It may be a bit more than you hoped for but likely less than buying a razor you don't care for and then buying another. If you keep your eyes open I think you may be able to get one with cosmetic imperfections but perfectly usable for under 50.

Gillette slims and Fatboys have a geometry where there is not much blade flex, which can reduce chatter and catching, so they're good for beginners IMO.

Testing cause it looks like my server (lemmy.world) is having issues. seeing if maybe it's specific to piefed or the wetshaving piefed server

As I just don't feel like creating a piefed account if I don't have to, I ought to be able to comment over there with this account right?

Took a bit of effort getting my account to "see" the piefed wetshaving community but eventually I got it to.

After a long mild spell here we had a pretty big snow, so I decided to get out some more of my winter themed stuff again.

Went with Vespers today because it's been very warm here in Minneapolis! So I wanted to use it once more while there's still some snow and feels a bit wintry.

Pretty much the same as yesterday except the fragrance. Sherlock is nice. I think I should use it more! When I first spray it it's a bit strong and certain notes stand out too much but once it's on its well balanced.

How is Abbate y La Mantia? I'm thinking about getting a hard shaving soap like theirs or SV next time I make a purchase.
